Ivy Chen showcases combat skills in test shots for upcoming "Black & White" movie

In preparation for the oft-delayed follow-up movie to 2009's hit Taiwanese police drama Black & White, the movie director has made progress in the production of the big screen production by shooting test action shots featuring actress Ivy Chen. Ivy, who is better known as the triad boss' daughter the award-winning Taiwanese police drama, took part in a sequence of action shots to ready for the actual production of the movie with the help of a French martial artist and action choreographer Cyril Raffaelli.

The production team behind the upcoming Black & White movie sought the expertise of a French fight coordinator in hand-held military fighting for the sake of combat realism. During one practice to prepare Ivy for the movie's fighting scenes, action choreographer Cyril took on the practice role of a husky fellow attacking Ivy with a knife. As the French martial artist swung at Ivy with a knife, he did not expect that Ivy would dodge the swing late and hit the accidentally hit the Taiwanese actress with the back of the knife until she shrieked from the blow. Other than a minor bruise from the incident, Ivy continued with the fighting practice and action sequence test shots that eventually left the actress with nothing more than varying bruises both large and small.

Van Ness takes it off for Material Queen

Van Ness Wu and Lynn Xiong have been filming at Taichung for their upcoming drama, “Material Queen”. Both stars have packed on some extra weight for giving in to irresistibly delicious local foods; Van Ness gained 3 Kg adding up to 75 Kg at 180 cm in height; Lynn gained 2 Kg and is 178 cm tall.

In “Material Queen”, there was a "must film" out-of-shower scene for Van Ness. But Van Ness was rather worried that his "ice-cube" six-pack had “melted” away a bit due to his weight gain. Thus, a week before shooting the scene, he immediately went on a diet where he ate nothing but vegetables.

Seeing that Van Ness was able to quickly regenerate his six-pack, Lynn sighed in jealousy, “How come he’s able to slim down so quickly?” Lynn, who was afraid of her face becoming rounder, also began to eat vegetables only. When the crew was served with some glutinous rice dumplings as dessert (to celebrate Winter Solstice), Van Ness only allowed her to eat one. Lynn cried, “He’s even stricter than my dad!”

In related news, Next TV celebrated its launch on the 28th; Since Next TV could not obtain cable TV operating licenses for all of their wanted channels (they only got approval for their movies and sports channels), 2,000 TV set-top boxes were given away for free on the 26th so that viewers can start watching the network via streaming.

JJ Lin & BY2 Return Taiwan After 80-hours of Misery

After stranded in New York's JFK Airport for nearly 80 hours, JJ Lin and his juniors BY2 is finally back home.

The three held a concert in New York a few days ago and had to stay in the airport when a big snow storm hit the city on Monday. They and their crews were forced to spend their days in the VIP room at the airport. They could not shower, wash hair, and change their clothes (luggage were already checked). Because there are no bathrooms, everyone had to line out outside the restrooms to wash their hair using the sink. They need to dry their hair by pressing it with napkins. Besides sharing 1 toothbrush with 5 people, JJ even had to alternate the same underwear these 3 days. BY2 also faced a similar problem that member Miko wore the same sock the day they arrived at the airport.

Their misery is finally over when they got on the evening flight to Taiwan. Fans and colleagues went to the airport to greet the group. JJ got emotional and hugged everyone. Their first thought after getting off the plane? Go home immediately to take a shower!

Yao Yao goes vegetarian for a week; tries to slim down her 'elephant legs'

Labeled as "Elephant Legs" by the public, Taiwanese entertainer Yao Yao took steps to alleviate the body mass in her legs and reduce the name callings by going on a veggie diet. In her recent music collaboration with mainland Chinese singer Jing Bo Ran for the song "Warm Hands", Yao Yao has been the target of Bo Ran's female fans when they lashed out at Yao Yao with the "Elephant Legs" label.

Yao Yao reacted to the name calling with a tearful message: "I know that my legs aren't slender, but it's not something that I'm willing to have. I don't want elephant legs either!" The negative response move by Bo Ran's fans was the last straw for the Taiwanese otaku goddess, whom vowed to attack the source of her leg's body mass through a combination of eating a veggie diet and swearing off eating meats and starchy foods.

Along with her determined recent dietary habits to combat the excess body mass in her legs, Yao Yao has also taken extra steps such as eating lighter snacks and undergoing a warm bath treatment to help with the reduction of her leg size. The steps to her health regime has gone on for at least one week, and Yao Yao hopes to continue her steps through the closing of the year.

Several days ago, Yao Yao was promoting a handmade chocolate dessert shop in advance to celebrate the holiday season with food presents, but in keeping with her recent dietary moves, Yao Yao avoided the chocolate sweets and did not talk with the restaurant staff in order to evade urges of taking some treats home to eat.

Leehom, Elva, (S.)H.E, Fahrenheit and others welcoming 2011 in China

With just less than three days left of 2010 (in my time zone at least), our favourite Cpop stars are preparing to take to the stage once more for their final performances of the year. We’ve already seen the singer lineup for concerts happening in Taiwan, but, as many of you noticed, many big names were missing. Every year, concert organisers in China spend big bucks to invite stars from Taiwan to perform, and this year is no exception.

Jiangsu TV’s New Year Concert in Nanjing boasts of big names from Asia but also from the west, with a star-studded line-up of Elva Hsiao, Mavis Fan, Fahrenheit, Christine Fan, Genie Cho, Yoga Lin, Fish Leong, Gary Cao and also Shakira and Susan Boyle. Elva will pocket an estimated 4.45 million NTD for her 3 song performance which includes her latest hit, “Miss Elva”.

Leehom Wang is performing at Dragon TV’s New Year Concert in Shanghai which will earn him 7.5 million NTD, and Fahrenheit will apparently also make an appearance here after their performance in Nanjing. Angela Chang is singing in Guangzhou for Hunan TV’s New Year Concert and will earn 4.45 million NTD for the performance.

Although Selina is unable to return to the stage for a while, “H.E” will perform as the finale of Shenzhen TV’s New Year Concert in Shenzhen, singing “Not Yet Lovers” and two other songs, earning 3 million NTD to wrap up the year.

Da S heads to Singapore hand-in-hand with husband

As previously reported, Da S and her new husband spent their first Christmas together in Taipei with the rest of the Hsu family. After spending a few days there for the holiday, they were spotted together at the airport heading to Singapore. The couple attracted many onlookers as they walked hand-in-hand. Da S' style seemed to have also changed a bit as she was sporting colors instead of her usual black garb. In addition there was speculation that perhaps she really is pregnant as instead of the usual heels, she was in flats. There is no word on where the two will be heading next after their private vacation in Singapore.

Hsiao Hung-Jen tells you to "shut up...please?"

With his music always filled with attention-grabbing lyrics and stylish arrangements, singer-songwriter Hsiao Hung-Jen is set to release his third album on the 31st. His new single, “惦惦...好嗎?” (roughly translates to Quiet/Shut Up…Please?), has just been released along with a music video.

Hsiao revealed that the inspiration for his new song came from observing couples in a quarrel. The song writes about couples fighting over little things – when the girlfriend asks, “Who are you talking on the phone with? Is it a girl?” the boyfriend can’t refrain from scolding, “Just shut up…be quiet!” But Hsiao explained that their quarreling is actually full of love. Thus, he named the song, “Shut Up…Please?” Hsiao expressed that adding “please” at the end of the phrase is not because the boyfriend doesn’t dare to tell his girlfriend to “shut up”, but it is to add a tint of affection. He then added, “The ultimate expression of love is to be accepting of everything. Endure…endure…endure and endure all you can because her nagging is also an expression of love for you.”

For the MV, he invited variety show host Sha Sha to be his sassy girlfriend. Although Hsiao was rather nervous during the shoot and kept causing retakes, Sha Sha got right into her character and scolded Hsiao like he was her real boyfriend.

Hsiao Hung-Jen's third album is now available for preorder at YesAsia!

Lee Wei to star in Monga tv series

Despite CTS' "花月艋舺" (roughly Moonlight Flowers Monga) previously being touted as the TV version of the 2010 hit film, "Monga", it seems that it will actually be an adaption of an extremely popular Taiwanese drama from 24 years ago, "花月正春風" (roughly Spring Breeze Through Moonlight Flowers.) It's been having a few casting problems, but the most recent news is that Li Wei will be picking up the baton along with female lead, Liang You Lin.

The original screenplay of "Spring Breeze Through Moonlight Flowers" was written with such a brilliant underworld boss that he immediately became the dream lover of all Taiwanese housewives, back in the day.

Lee Wei has already had experience acting as a "godfather" to positive applaud in previous series. This time he will be acting as a young gangster who enters into the criminal underworld. It's clear that he would not object to the roles of being the underworld boss as "Being in the criminal underworld has always been a man's favorite suject." Because of his family, Lee Wei has always been exposed to "brothers" of the underworld and has admited to being familiar with them. To this new role, he says, "I hope it can be a bit more realistic."

Ratings drought continues for idol dramas

2010 will likely go down as one of the worst years for idol dramas. It started off promising with hits like Autumn’s Concerto and Hi My Sweetheart, but things quickly went downhill thereafter. The final Sunday of the year was no exception: “Channel-X” is closing in on dipping below 1%; it averaged 1.06% for the latest episode. “4 Gifts” ended its disappointing run at 1.04%, while “Love Buffet” rounds out the group at 1.02%.

Now that 4 Gifts is finished, CTV will extend “Million Star” to fill its timeslot till 10:30, and then followed by Japanese variety “Exile EXE”. To put things in perspective, Million Star has steadily improved in the ratings despite recent the cancellation rumors. The show scored 1.99% last Sunday, and assuming it can hold onto viewers for 30 more minutes, it should handily beat both Channel-X and Love Buffet. If all goes as plan for CTV, the network will premiere Mike He and Janine Chang's "Sunny Happiness" in mid-February, and He's other drama "Mei Le, Go" with Cyndi Wang is tentatively scheduled for June.

Stylish people are hard to miss, aren't they? JJ Lin stuck in New York with Youtube!

JJ Lin and his juniors, By2, were originally suppose to get on a 10pm flight on the 26th after performing at a concert in New York on the 26th to arrive in Taiwan on the morning of the 28th. However, most of you probably know, New York was one of the places hit by the snowstorm causing the airport to shutdown. With an estimated wait of 20 hours before it would reopen and start re-seating, JJ and the 15 people with him are all painfully waiting in the airline's VIP lounge.

His company, Ocean Butterflies, has been in a fluster about the upcoming schedules. They had to cancel eleven schedules originally planned for the 29th and 30th already. In addition, they are worried that they might even have to cancel JJ and By2's appearances on New Year's shows on the 31st. With JJ's two appearance and By2's three costing NT$2,000,000 and NT$1,000,000 respectively, it's quite a loss for them.

Meanwhile, during the wait at the airport, while others were sleeping, JJ was having some fun with his cam. It looks like he was pretty bored (and not too happy) as he uploaded four videos onto his youtube channel (with dancing!). Seems like he will be getting out, hopefully, sometime later today according to his video:

Whoohoo appears as special guest at Jolin's concert

Jolin Tsai completed her extravagant concert at the Taipei Arena from 24 to 25th. After all her hard work in preparing for the concerts, Jolin was moved to tears three times on the final night. She couldn’t stop her tears from flowing as she sang her KTV hit song, “Rewind”, and called out, “My goodness! I need some tissue.”

Like her last concert, Jolin dazzled the audience with more difficult gymnastic moves. Her company even bought a hundred million dollar insurance in case of any accidents. Fortunately, Jolin completed her shows with perfection. On the second and third night, Jolin’s dog Whoohoo was the special guest; fans couldn’t help but shout, “Kawaii!” as Whoohoo walked along the stage like a superstar. Jolin’s manager was initially afraid that Whoohoo would get scared, but Jolin confidently said, “Whoohoo has been to the big stage before.” Jolin later laughed, “It did pretty well on the second night, but on the third night, it kept running to the back as if it wanted to have a race with me. I don’t know what it was thinking.”

Jolin’s boyfriend Vivian Dawson was also spotted at the concert on the third night.

Ady An is willing to lose everything for love?

In contrast to her fragile and pitiful character in “Autumn’s Concerto”, Ady An is an outgoing and generous person in real life, surrounded by a group of friends. Ady rarely talks about her family, but she revealed to Appledaily that she was raised in a single-parent family. She and her mom stopped seeing each other when she was very little, and she was raised in a strict manner by her dad and step-mom. She recalls that her dad had once threatened her boyfriend to take her to the obstetrics and gynecology department to ensure her virginity; she was even forbid of going to school at the time. The experience greatly affected her perspective on love. Ady, who’s willing to lose everything for love, said, “I once observed a guy for three years, and in the end, he suddenly got married with someone else.” Upon saying this, everyone suspected that her crush was Wang Xiao-Fei, but she laughed, “Of course not, we’re buddies!”

Ady grew up living in an expensive house at Yangmingshan. She was once mistaken as a daughter of a triad. She explained that her dad manages a security company; before she was 16, her dad would send a car to pick her up after school every day. However, Ady expressed that she did not have a happy childhood. Her parents divorced when she was 4 and both of her parents got remarried. Her mom later gave birth to two more daughters and a son, while her dad and her step-mom had another son. Since she lived with her dad, she could only send her mom cards during the holidays to maintain their relationship. She didn't reunite with her mom until she was 20.

Since she was little, Ady would only call her step-mom, ‘auntie’ and not ‘mom’. Her auntie had been very strict; whenever she did not pass on a test, she would get hit once for every mark she missed. She always had to pay special attention to make sure all the dishes were washed thoroughly; if she didn’t wake up after the alarm clock goes off, her auntie would charge right into her room and begin to smash things. Going out with friends was simply an impossible dream. Due to this, Ady decided to run away from home after graduating from high school. But she was like ‘Monkey King’, unable to escape from the palm of her dad’s hand. She ended up calling home to inform of her safety and her dad immediately scolded, “You’d better get home in half an hour!” As for the ten years of unhappiness that she has been through, she expressed, “I know that auntie did all the things for my good. A few years ago, she cried while apologizing to me, but actually, I understood her reasons long ago.”

Inheriting her father’s straightforward personality, Ady's friends are mostly guys; Barbie Hsu’s husband Wang Xiao-Fei is one of her buddies. They met at her birthday party five years ago and love just didn’t spark between the two, “If I've decided that he’s going to my friend, then it’s impossible for us to go any further than that.” As for rumors of her having a crush on him, it made her extremely mad. She described Wang Xiao-Fei as a very generous and caring person where he would pay for dinner when eating with friends. He would call a driver to take him home if he drank more than a glass. Ady commented, “I’ve never seen him get out of control when drinking.” He also once wished that Ady would become more feminine and bought her a pink Prada purse as a birthday gift. Barbie also showed her thanks to Ady for being their matchmaker and even promised that she will “definitely get Ady married!”

Perhaps it’s due to her family background; Ady has always been independent and likes to keep her personal life private, where even her female friends don’t have a clue about her love relationships. Ady explained, “If it’s not a friend that I’ve known for 5 to 6 years, I wouldn’t invite him or her to visit my home.” She admits that she doesn’t act girly, but she is willing to give up everything she has for love, “What I like is probably the guy version of Ady An. This person has to be stronger than me.” Her thought on marriage is rather pessimistic, “I believe that there are couples that love each other for a lifetime, but it won’t happen to me.”

It’s been nine years since Ady debuted and she has very little rumored boyfriends. At most, her rumored boyfriends are the ones for promoting her dramas or movies such as Dylan Kuo and Huang Xiao-Ming. She expressed, “Actually, I mind a lot about privacy. For the past few years, I’ve never dated someone from within showbiz. I won’t go public with a love relationship. I might even get married secretly one day.” In other words, no matter whom she’s dating, she will never admit it.

TTV spends big bucks on Japanese & Korean stars for CNY special

Although the Year of the Rabbit is still a month away, Taiwanese networks are already preparing their annual Chinese New Year variety specials. Back in the beginning of this year, TTV scored big ratings with “Superstar Red and White Entertainment Awards”. The variety extravaganza will return in 2011 in hope to repeat its previous success. Over 30 artistes performed in the first Red and White special (which was “modeled” after Japan’s Kohaku) including Show Luo and ELVA Hsiao, as well as 90s idols Jimmy Lin and Nicky Wu.

For the upcoming special, TTV will change things up by adding Japanese and Korean stars to the lineup. In addition to the previously announced Thelma Aoyama, Atari Kosuke and After School, Chinatimes reported that SHINee has also agreed to appear on the show. TTV has yet to confirm this, but if it is true, they sure won’t be very happy that their competitor had leaked the news (CTV and Chinatimes are owned by the same company.) The newspaper also revealed how pricey these foreign stars can be: Atari Kosuke will set them back around 600,000 NTD, Thelma Aoyama and After School are estimated to cost at least 900,000 respectively, and SHINee rounds out the group with 1.2 million. “Superstar” will be pre-recorded at the Taipei Arena on January 10th.

To counter attack TTV's programming, CTV announced they will record their own CNY special "2011 Asia Million Star Challenge" on January 26th. It is also taking place at the Taipei Arena and will feature two other Korean idol groups. No names have been given but here are two clues: One is a top-selling popular group, the other is a long-legged female group. Interestingly, A-list stars like Jay Chou, Jolin Tsai, A-Mei Chang, Mayday, Jam Hsiao and Leehom Wang have all turned down both shows.

Will local viewers enjoy the foreign flavor? We'll find out when the specials air on Chinese New Year's eve, February 2nd, 2011.

Jolin Tsai Flirts With Vivan Dawson At Concert

Jolin Tsai's "2010 myself Concert" at Taipei Arena held its last show and new beau Vivian Dawson finally appeared to support girlfriend. But to avoid excessive attention, he did not entered the venue at the VIP entry and watched the show in low profile.

Knowing new beau is here, Jolin sent a sweet message to him when singing "Real Man." She did not say anything when singing "Real Man" in the first two shows but last night she added: "Where's my real man?" It seems the dancing queen was openly flirting with her new boyfriend at her concert.

Last night was the final show and everyone was emotional. When singing "Rewind" written by ex Jay Chou, Jolin even had a emotional break down. She told fans after singing "What Kind of Love" that her nickname is "Tsai Shi Fei" (Disputes Tsai) because she has encountered many challenges over these years. She then said: "Already about 11 or 12 years now. Doesn't matter when did you start to support me, I'm very happy that I'm able to keep performing on the stage."

SIGMA runs with tears in new MV

SIGMA has just recently filmed their new MV, Running with Tears (淚奔). The plot is a romantic one that required the boys to shed tears. However, Judy Chou was unable to squeeze out tears, no matter what, and ended up mocking himself saying he was cold blooded.

Despite the MV requiring them to be romantic and shed tears, it was a different story off-camera. The three could not get those tears to run. They used yawning to try to squeeze the tears out. Mrtting Li and Tommy Lin were the first to shed tears, but Judy Chou could not and ended up laughing instead.

When asked about their past crying experiences, group member Mrtting Li was very passionate about it. During his college days, he and his girlfriend had a long distance relationship where the feelings slowly faded. On one Christmas, the two cried together over the phone over their separation.

Check out their crying in the MV:

Anthony Neely snuggles up with hairy bunny girl

HIM Records held a celebration party to congratulate their newcomer, Anthony Neely, on the success of his debut album, “Lesson One”. Since the album topped the sales chart on its release, a “No.1” ice sculpture was also prepared for destruction at the party. Anthony, while holding the gold hammer, laughed, “I used to see other singers break ice sculptures on TV and thought it was really cool. I’ve even dreamt of doing this myself and finally, I’m really going to get a chance to today!”

HIM Records also prepared a “mystery bunny girl” as a Christmas present for the singer. Upon hearing this, Anthony became rather nervous as he anxiously waited to greet his ‘bunny girl’. Everyone was anticipating a hot ‘Playboy’ girl to appear, but it turned out that HIM Records had bought him a real female rabbit. He said embarrassedly, “This is okay! I will get along well with it. Furthermore, it’s got fur, so it’s very warm when you hold it!” When asked how he usually spends his Christmas, he humorously replied, “I’ve never spent my Christmas with a girl before, I’ve always eaten dinner with my family. But luckily, I have a ‘bunny girl’ to accompany me this year!” Anthony then gave his bunny girl an affectionate kiss.

At the celebration party, Anthony also sang his newly recorded single, “The Christmas Song”, which is a Christmas present for his fans. He also announced that he will be holding a mini concert at Legacy (concert venue) next year.

Rhydian Vaughan accepts first endorsement

After rising to fame from the local hit movie, “Monga”, Rhydian Vaughan has just accepted his first endorsement; the sportswear brand K-Swiss will pay Rhydian 7-figures (~one million TWD) to become its spokesperson for Taiwan. It will actually be their second time working together and Rhydian expressed, “Our first collaboration went very well. I think both of us felt great, so that’s why they’ve asked me to become the spokesperson this time.” As for obtaining his very first endorsement, he laughed, “It feels like I’ve gone to the next level in life.”

Rhydian, who doesn’t pay much attention to his appearance, revealed that he used to wear used clothes. When asked if he still wears used clothes after becoming famous, he responded, “Maybe because a lot of brands know that I have a habit of wearing anything I find, that’s why they sponsor me. Right now, I’ve got so many clothes that I can provide them to others.”

Other than being thrilled about getting promoted from being a guest star to a spokesperson, Rhydian described that “it feels like the start of a new love relationship.” He also commented that he’s very satisfied with the pay.

Who is Wilber Pan's dream woman?

On the 14th of January, Wilber Pan will be releasing his newest album, "808". On the 23rd, he went on HitFM where they played his hit new song, 全面通緝 (roughly Most Wanted), and shared her experience of being "most wanted" by love. While laughing, he said that when he was still in school, he was both fat and ugly, but within the span of three months, he was pursued by 7 females. Due to practicing day and night on the dance for his new song, he has lost 6kg and his charm has increased.

However, despite his build becoming better due to dancing, Wilber still laughed at himself saying that he wasn't tall enough and that no one will love him since he's short. But the hair stylist who he said this to told him that many females love "Handsome Pan", so much so that even though they might have a boyfriend, they'll still think about Wilber as their husband.

Wilber's description of the woman of his fantasy is someone who has thick lips, enough sex appeal, and makes one desire to kiss her. When he asked about the females that love him, the hair stylist would only say that one of them sings, acts, and is an artiste popular in China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Hearing this, Wilber decided that it couldn't be Rainie Yang because the the two often ignore each other and that he couldn't be the guy of her dreams.

He did reveal that his parents are impatiently waiting to hold a grandson, while he is not anxious. He did say that there was an upper limit, and that was 35 years old. He is determined to have started a family by the time he is 35. Right now, his first request for his girlfriend is or her to "have confidence that she can maintain a phone conversation with (him) for at least two hours," there must be something to talk about.

Sonia Sui gets scarf to strangle James Wen

In the series, "Fierce Wife", Sonia Sui's character is betrayed by her husband. Unlike in the series, in reality, she actually has a fierce personality and will definitely keep boyfriend, Yao Yuan Hao obediently at her side. She expressed that she would never let her man betray her. If what happens in the series happens to her after she gets married one day, she would get a divorce without hesitation and will walk away with dignity without asking for alimony from the husband.

She admits that she has a dread of relationships and cannot put up with her other half sneaking around. She said with a laugh, "Before marriage, it's about seeing the sincerity. After marriage, it's about seeing the conscience. A sense of responsibility is very important." She also doesn't want to lose herself after marriage and hopes, instead, to continuously get better. She wants to have both a life and work, but will also have a girly side, "I am willing to take cooking lessons before marriage, so that I can cook later on." Sonia apparently has a habit of reading the script before sleeping, often crying out of heartbreak for her character in the series and ending up with swollen eyes in the morning.

At the press conference on the 23rd, she prepared a scarf for James Wen, "This can strangle him!" James' character in the series is mixed with the three women in the series. But, on set, he is often left out as the women all crowd together to chat and eat refreshments while he hides in a corner. He says that he is a very morally grounded person and feels tortured by having to act as someone who falls in love with his younger cousin-in-law. His white hair count is even increasing so fast that he has to dye his hair twice a week now.

CTV loses CEO

Yesterday afternoon, it was announced that the CEO of CTV, Wu Ge Qing, has suddenly resigned. This news shook up the entire company. From what is known, he came to the position in June of last year and from then until November, he had a turnover of NT$1,370,000,000, which, from an outsider's point of view, isn't too bad. However, for the new year's annual budge, he drew up a schedule with a budget of NT$400,000,000 and the financial department would only give him NT$50,000,000. This angered him so much that he decided to resign.

He sent out a letter to the staff yesterday saying in the end, "Working with you was an honor." The staff all felt that it was very sudden and thought that something had came up in his life. Since CTV is a listed company, they must wait for the board of directors for a decision on the next CEO. In the meantime, the Vice CEO will be the temporary substitute.

Jolin Tsai's Back to the Taipei Arena

Jolin Tsai is back on the stage of Taipei Arena after 4 years!

The singer's 3-shows "2010 myself Concert" at Taipei Arena kicks off last night. The dancing queen began the show with "Butterfly" and she performed in a very sexy corset mini dress. Not only she performed her latest voguing dance with famous dancer Benny Ninja, she also performed a special dance with male and female dancers for her homosexual fans.

Jolin sang nearly 30 fast tracks and already changed into 5 different outfits for the first 5 songs, changing 11 outfits in total. It is known the singer practiced changing clothes in 20 seconds for her concert.

The "Honey Trap" singer did not speak until the 10th song. She said she wants to talk less like singer Faye Wong: "But producer of my concert didn't like it. After all Faye's a music queen." Her fans' reply "you're too!" made the singer laughed happily.

Many of Jolin's friends sent flower baskets to wish Jolin a good show, including her ex Jay Chou. Jay even writes on a card: "Still a good show without Double J. Zero empty seat, zero awkward moment." But good friend Wilber Pan purposely teased her. His message on the card "you sure it's only gonna be yourself?" [the name of Jolin's concert is 'myself'] teases Jolin's rumored relationship with model Vivian Dawson.

SETTV to move to HD news

To welcome the digital era, SETTV has spend NT$800,000 to a new digital environment for news. Despite the digital picture being more clear, the anchors are not worried about their flaws being seen, "HD screens make us look more 3-dimensional and will enhance the quality of the viewer's experience." They are also very welcoming of the empty tables as all the information is now stored in digital form. Hopefully, other stations will follow with both their news, or perhaps their dramas?

Jimmy Lin unveils new Mini iPad?!

On the 21st, 36 year old Jimmy Lin showed off his new Mini iPad on his micro-blog, which made the netizens go into a frenzy as Apple has not yet officially released the product. How can he already have one? Could it be a counterfeit? Even the Japanese science and technology website, "Akihabara News", was curious.

Jimmy has been known to be crazy for electronics. Back when he was 26, he established his own online company. He’s one of the few that often gets his hands on the latest gadgets before they’re even released in Taiwan. For example, he got an iPad long ago through the help of his friends in the United States.

Interestingly, he uploaded a photo of himself holding the 9.7 inch iPad in his left hand while a 7 inch ‘Mini iPad’ in his right. He also mentioned along with the photo that the ‘Mini’ version fitted little Kimi (Jimmy’s son) just right. The photo immediately became a hot topic among the netizens; even a blog post wrote, “Holy, 7 inch iPad appears, and the one who revealed it is no other but the never aging idol Jimmy Lin!”

Some professionals believe that the 7 inch Mini iPad is genuine; other netizens simply feel overwhelmed by all the new Apple products.

Jimmy hasn’t been available to respond about the photo, but his manager was feeling just as confused as the rest of us. His manager simply commented that since there is no such product on the Apple website, it’s likely that Jimmy was just joking with everyone.

Jimmy's 1 year-old son, Kimi, also loves electronics.
