FanFan Fan WeiQi will be marrying boyfriend Blackie (HeiRen) Chen JianZhou on May 7; the young couple has recently come to a standstill over the design and style of their new home. Though both had strong opinions, in the end, it was Blackie who gave way. FanFan said, "He makes all the big decisions; I make the little ones. But, because there are very few big decisions to be made, he usually listens to me."
Bride-to-be FanFan was out promoting her new album, Love & FanFan yesterday. HitFM specially prepared some familiar non-Taiwanese wedding traditions to help FanFan "prepare" and "practice" for her upcoming wedding, like an adorable little flower girl and a sexy garter. FanFan even made her own wedding bouquet. She and Blackie will be getting married at W Hotel on May 7; even NBA star 易建聯 Yi JianLi will be flying to Taiwan to attend. Unfortunately, however, the couple have not been particularly proactive in planning their own wedding; FanFan's mother had to nag at them to find a church!
FanFan's wedding gown will come from good friend 賈永婕 Gu YongJie's store, though FanFan has yet to settle on a design. Wang LeeHom will serve as best man, while Makiyo and 劉容嘉 Candice Liu RongJia will serve as bridesmaids. FanFan laughed and said, "Makiyo will be in charge of blocking all my drinks.(1) Also, that day, I'll make sure to provide her with a modest, chest-binding dress. That way, she won't steal away the bride's thunder!"(2)
The young couple have purchased a 75-ping(3) residence in MinSheng Community in Taipei for their new bridal home. They have already spent $5,000,000 NTD on remodeling and redecorating it; however, Blackie's style is "refined" and "simple," while FanFan prefers "warm" and "inviting." The two were at a standstill over style, neither wishing to back down. Once, Blackie even secretly had a dark black wood floor, as well as a very cool, cold, and hip wardrobe, installed. Upon FanFan's insistence, however, both were knocked down and redone.
The ordinarily carefree and outgoing FanFan is afraid of falling on her wedding day; she jokingly said that she would be wearing sneakers, rather than high heels, down the aisle.
Will Be Bringing Bikini to Sanya; Will Sing at Good Friend Barbie Hsu (Da S)'s WeddingFanFan's good friend Barbie Hsu XiYuan (Da S) will be holding her wedding banquet next month, on the 22nd, in Sanya, on Hainan Island. She will be celebrating her marriage to and happiness with Wang XiaoFei. When asked whether or not she was preparing for the ceremony in any way, FanFan laughed and said, "I hear that the scenery there is really beautiful. I've already prepared a bikini!" Because of traditional superstition, FanFan cannot serve as Barbie's bridesmaid. She will, however, perform at the wedding banquet.
(1) 擋酒 Dang jiu is well-known Taiwanese slang (?). It's a practice in which a friend (actually, often a boyfriend) will drink every alcoholic drink that comes the way of the lightweight. Makiyo is well-known to be a fantastic drinker.
(2) Makiyo is also well-known to have a fantastic figure, which she loves to show off. She has been known, though, in the past, to specially cover up on her friends' birthdays or other big days-- it's something the media, her friends, and even Makiyo herself will reference and acknowledge.
(3) A 坪 ping is a type of measurement, used mostly in Taiwan and Japan. It measures 6 Japanese meters x 6 Japanese meters.
