Selina to make comeback as radio host?

During a interview, Jen baba (Selina's Father) stated that Selina Jen might not necessarily return to being a singer after she heals. She might turn to developing areas where there is no need to show her face. That is why he sought out the CEO of UFO Radio, Chang Hsiao-yen, to discuss the possibility of her taking over a broadcast. This prompted Jiao Jiao (once pursuer now friend) to jump out immediately and offer his 2pm show, "During rehabilitation each days, she has to face her own scars. I think she would become more and more confined to herself. Is she has a job, she might be able to divert her thoughts. It has to be better than now. Plus, I think that her voice is very good and will fit very well as a radio host. If no time slot can be found, I can give up my slot." However, Chang Hsiao-yen has stated, "I hope he doesn't think too much into it. Jen baba and I have discussed over a meal. In regards to Selina, I have my own arrangements."

Previously Jiao Jiao had tried to pursue Selina, but in the end became good friends instead of lovers. He said, "Before she got into the accident, we kept in touch through MSN. She is a great girl and will frequently care about how I am doing, asking me how I was recently, whether I was busy. In all honestly, how busy can I be? At my busiest, I still couldn't be as busy as S.H.E., but she still found the time to be caring. Just a few simple words touched me a lot."

According to Chang Hsiao-yen, during the Chinese New Year celebration period, she had had a meal with Ren baba to discuss Selina's possibility of become a host, "We have some preliminary thoughts, but we still have to discuss the details. It's inconvenient to say right now since discussing what time slot we would give her right not is not fair to those who are hosting currently." As for Jiao Jiao's offer, she jokingly said, "Sure, if we really can't find a time slot, then we'll give Jiao Jiao's to her." If Selina is to come back through radio hosting, then she will definitely be on UFO and Chang Hsiao-yen has already guaranteed that if she is to host, in her condition, she will not be on very late at night.

Pre-F4 Jerry Yan exposed

A few days ago, a picture of Jerry Yan started spreading on the internet and causing quite a commotion. The picture was posted by Jerry's good friend, on his blog, of pre-F4 Jerry from 11 years ago. While he certainly wasn't as polished as now, his fans are still calling his look in the picture "handsome." When Jerry heard about this, his reaction was, "It's quite sentimental."

What do you think of his look back then? Would you have pegged him to become the leader of F4?

Wu Chun states reasons for dropping out of drama, surprising and angering people

As most know the Taiwanese rendition of "Absolute Boyfriend" was originally suppose to star Wu Chun and Goo Hye Sun. While Goo Hye Sun is still attached, Chun has dropped out and the drama is once again in limbo and are still searching for their male lead. One speculation is that Chun is clearing out his schedule for his big break into the movie industry. According to Chun's manager, he had dropped out not because he" "doesn't want to act. It's because the script isn't good yet We have no clue when they will start filming and there is no set broadcast date. We are dropping out right now because we are worried that the schedule will not fit well (with Chun's movie)."

Though nothing is completely set in stone yet, there have been reports that GTV has been keyed up over the fact that he will drop out and rumors say that they might be looking towards the law. Since GTV has been cultivating Chun all this time, many have been surprised by what is happening on both sides. When the producer was asked about this situation, he showed a bit of anger saying, "Why doesn't he want to act? There are many reasons, but using the script is not right. Everyone has already said they would act already, and if he was dissatisfied with the script, then we can change it so that he is satisfied with it."

Barbie Hsu Wants an Apology From Sohu's CEO

The wedding might be over but the feud continues.

Some of the rules guests "must" follow at Barbie Hsu (Da S) and Wang Xiao Fei's wedding is don't bring a camera to take photos and upload them online. However, guests obviously didn't follow and happily took photos at the wedding still. But they didn't really post photos of the couple online, but the CEO of Sohu did.

Zhang Zhao Yang

Sohu's CEO Zhang Zhao Yang (張朝陽) was invited as one of the groomsmen to the wedding, but was later notified he didn't have to be the groomsman anymore because one of the bridesmaids was absent. Zhang, who is also Wang's good friend, took photos of the couple at uploaded them on Sohu Weibo and these photos became the first batch of Da S' wedding photo online.

Zhang's action angered media from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and other districts. Reporters could hardly get into the wedding thanks to the security guards. They all tried their best to take good photos for their job. Some crawled on the beach and ended up getting dog poop on the shirt. Some disguised as construction workers, trying to sneak in to a nearby building. When they knew their photos were no longer exclusive since Sohu's CEO already posted them up, they were mad; all their hard work became nothing.

People pointed Da S for having favorites to Mainland media and forgetting she is from Taiwan. Da S herself immediately released a statement, claiming she didn't exclusively allowed Zhang to take photos and she demands an apology.

Facing criticism from everywhere, Zhang doesn't think he is wrong and expressed he received acquiescence to take photos at the wedding.

"I don't think my action is wrong in any way," he wrote on his Sohu Weibo. "So I will not admit I'm wrong or apologize."

Da S' husband Wang is mad and expressed he is no longer friends with Zhang. He denied giving permission to Zhang to make public of his wedding. He also acussed Zhang for hiring gossip news reporters and dressing them up as guests to take more photos at the wedding.

Da S released another statement today, once again demanding an apology from Zhang; otherwise, legal actions would be taken.

March 22nd marked the grand wedding between Barbie Xu and wealthy second generation, Wang Xiao Fei. In addition to the jealousy of “matchmaker” Ady An, Xiao Fei’s ex-girlfriend, Kitty Zhang Yuqi, may have been disappointed that her dreams of marrying into a rich family were shattered. When asked by the press about Barbie and Xiao Fei’s wedding, Kitty often appeared embarrassed and tightened her lips.

Since announcing her break-up with Wang Xiao Fei, Kitty has been pursued by many suitors. Showcasing an uninhibited nature, Kitty was often photographed with many mysterious men. She was spotted shopping with Hsu Feng’s son earlier. Afterwards, it was clarified that the pair were only friends.

Several days ago, Kitty was spotted at the airport returning to Beijing . Accompanying her side was a 30-year-old man in a black suit. Although not as handsome as Kitty’s ex-boyfriend, Wang Xiao Fei, the mystery man appeared to have a gentle temperament and may be from a wealthy family. Leaving the airport, the pair boarded a Land Rover, which was not Kitty’s private car. Could the mystery man be Kitty’s new love interest?

Barbie Hsu's 'Low-Profile' Wedding

Wedding ceremony location

Bridesmaid & Groomsmen

The couple walked in

Although Barbie Hsu (Da S) said it's going to be a low-profile wedding, but in fact it's very high-profile one.

Da S and Wang Xiao Fei's wedding is one of the anticipating weddings this year and is finally held today. Friends and relatives from both families flied to Hainan the day before to prepare. In order to break away from reporters, the family told them a press conference would be held in a hotel. Reporters were waiting outside in the sun for hours and in the end realized they fell for Barbie's trap.

When they arrived Hainan, Xiao S, Blackie Chen, and other Da S' friends and relatives accepted interview from reporters. Da S then took this opportunity to get on the car. Although both families only had 80 people, but nearly a hundred police, security guards, and staff from the hotel in total were there to guard them. They blocked reporters from going closer to the family, some of them even treated reporters rudely.

The big day finally arrived (March 22) and originally Da S rejected reporters from reporting, stating she just wants to have a low-profile wedding. However, she then allowed Sina Entertainment to report their wedding live. That was the same to guests at the wedding, who weren't allowed to take photos at the wedding but in the end they broke the rule anyways.

The ceremony was held in the afternoon. Da S and husband Wang were in white wedding outfits. Bridesmaids and other accessories were in purple, which is Da S' favorite color. Although it was windy during the ceremony, but everyone could feel the couple's happiness.

It's rumored the whole event costs at least 30 million NTD. Plus everyone's attention are on them. What a "low-profile" wedding!

“The Fierce Wife” edged out “Rookies’ Diary” as the most-watched TV show for a second straight week. The two Friday night dramas continued their strong runs with average ratings of 6.87% and 6.37% respectively. But the real winners were no doubt the two telethons that were held for Japan disaster relief -- “Send Love to Japan” and “Believe in Hope, Fight & Smile” combined to raise 30 million USD last week without any record-breaking ratings. Their highest rated segments came courtesy of an appearance by the cast of “Night Market Life” (1.66%) on “Send Love” and Fei Yu Ching’s song performance (>3%) on “Believe in Hope”.

Barbie Hsu Lures Media Away; Magician Lu Chen and Aboriginal Singer to Perform During Wedding

Barbie Hsu will be holding her wedding tomorrow (22 March) in Hainan Province, Sanya. This morning, her family and friends in Taiwan went on a chartered plane to Sanya. Other than Dee Hsu, her parents, grandmother and other relatives, Barbie’s close friends such as Aya, Pace Wu, Christine Fan, Heiren, Makiyo, S.H.E’s Ella and many others were amongst the passengers of this special chartered plane. In addition, renowned magician Lu Chen and Taiwan aboriginal singer Wang Hong En, are expected to perform at Barbie’s wedding.

Luring the Media Away

This morning at 10.10am, Taiwan variety programme producer who talent-scouted the Hsu sisters, Wang Weizhong appeared at the airport. He warmly led the waiting media to the VIP lounge for an interview and shared that he would present a wedding gift to the newly-weds-to-be. Christine Fa and Heiren subsequently arrived at the airport and chatted with the media for a while revealing that Dee Hsu and her family will arrive shortly. When the media was interviewing Christine and later rushed out to interview Dee Hsu and her family, they realized in fact Barbie, dressed in a flowery skirt and flats has already secretly entered the airport with her mother. It then dawned on the media that they had fallen for the diversion tactic.

Lu Chen and Wang Hong En to Perform at Wedding

Media caught sight of Barbie’s father, grandmother and aunty a moment later. Hsu-pa shared that he would give a golden pendent to his daughter as dowry while her Hsu-ma expressed her joy. In addition to close friends like Aya, Pace Wu, Makiyo, S.H.E’s Ella will also attend the wedding. Aya said, “We actually wanted to wear something with a tropical theme. But in view of the recent natural disaster, we decided not to.” Makiyo shared that there will not be photography during the ceremony. Meanwhile Christine Fan revealed that she would be singing a song. But when media probed if she is singing [Most Important Decision], she did not reply. In addition, Ella shared that she would be performing. Chai Zhi Ping said that she would be giving the couple a red packet of 6-digits worth. It was said that all female artistes will be wearing purple gown. On the other hand, Lu Chen is seen at the airport with his magic case, while Wang Hong En has his guitar. Media hence speculated that they would be performing for Barbie’s wedding. The appearance of so many celebrities at the airport caused a chaos and a photography journalist even had an asthma attack. It took almost half an hour before all the celebrities made it through to the departure hall.

Transit at Taichung Before Heading to Sanya

According to sources, a tour agency was in charge of all arrangement for this trip. As there is no direct flight from Taipei to Sanya, all the celebrities will transit at Taichung for an hour or so, before heading to Sanya. The expected arrival time in Sanya is 3pm.

Lottery winner helps FTV/TTV telethon to raise over 100 million

The first of two telethons for disaster relief in Japan took place earlier today. TTV and FTV joined hands to host “Send Love to Japan – 311 Disaster relief” and raised approximately 114 million NTD (~ 3.85 million USD.) Some reports from yesterday suggested that the two networks had dropped out of the "Believe in Hope" telethon (from CTS/CTV/PTS) due to disagreements over ad profits. Both sides have their reasons, but like producer Wang Wei Chung (of "Believe in Hope") said, “It’s a good thing as long as someone’s doing it.” Veteran entertainer Bai Bing Bing added, “Those who haven’t donated enough can come back tomorrow night and donate some more.”

The total amount raised by “Send Love to Japan” had originally stalled at 60 million. But thanks to a generous donation by an individual named Mr. Chen, the show was able to raise over 100 million NTD. As it turned out, Mr. Chen has actually won a 300 million jackpot because of host Zhu Ge Liang. He saw Zhu's “Buy an extra ticket” lottery campaign while purchasing tickets and decided to get some more, which eventually led to the win. There were some confusion that he had wanted to donate 100 million, but after seven minutes of negotiation, the amount was scaled down to a still impressive 50 million (~1.69 million USD).

The next telethon, "Believe in Hope, Fight & Smile", can be streamed live from NextTv on March 18th starting at 8pm local time (8am EST). For updates and donation info, please kindly visit the Google Crisis Response page.

"We've done four autograph concerts in a row; my co-workers are all exhausted. Although my arms and shoulders are sore, when I see, at each event, my fans doing the dance moves for 獨一無二 Only You [Du Yi Wu Er Only You], I just feel so happy!" The tickets to the concert-- all 18,000 of them-- have sold out; it is estimated that they will make a profit of $40 million NTD.

(1) White Day is another Valentine's Day, celebrated by a few countries in Asia, mainly Japan, Taiwan, and S. Korea. Western Valentine's Day in Asia is a bit of a role reversal: girls typically give homemade or store-bought chocolates to their crushes. It's on White Day that the boys respond with their own presents.
(2) The Chinese doesn't specify whether one or more lucky fans were picked for the movie screening.

Taiwanese networks to host telethon for Japan disaster relief

Taiwan’s Red Cross Society, CTS, PTS and CTV will hold the “Believe in Hope, Fight & Smile” telethon this Friday to raise money for Japan. F.I.R. leader Ian Chen has written the event’s theme song “Believe” after he was inspired by Japanese locals who remained calm and orderly throughout the disaster. Singers including Lin Yu Chun, Tony Sun, Hsiao Hung Jen, Color , Jody Chiang, A-Lin and his own group F.I.R. have already taken part in the recording. Chen also wrote a voice-over segment for President Ma Ying Jeou who has agreed to participate according to CTS. The Fierce Wife overtakes Rookies Diary as the #1 TV show

It’s no small feat considering many thought “The Fierce Wife” didn't have much of a chance when it premiered last November. Four months and eighteen episodes later, the Friday at 10 drama is now number one overall amongst currently airing shows. It scored an average rating of 7.11%, while second place “Rookies’ Diary” pulled in a respectable 6.17%.

Amidst all the positive news, “The Fierce Wife” did come under fire for a bottle-throwing scene that aired last week. The scene, which was shot at a local park, showed Chris Wang’s character encouraging Sonia Sui’s to throw glass bottles at a wall to relieve her frustration. A “Wife” viewer who regularly visits the park found pieces of shattered glass in the grass field. He is concerned that unaware locals or their dogs might accidentally step on debris left behind by the production. “Wife” producer Wang Pei Hua responded saying that they have already added a warning during the scene and asked the crew to clean the area at the time of filming. She will send her staff out again to ensure the remaining pieces are removed.

In other ratings news, the revamped “Guess Guess Guess” (now called “You Guess, You Guess, You Guess Guess Guess” in Chinese) scored mediocre ratings (1.08%) despite the return of long-time host Jacky Wu. He, along with cohost Patty Hou, greeted viewers with a live broadcast as the show retuned to its original timeslot of Saturday at 10. Over on Sunday, “Love Buffet” finished out its run at number two with an average rating of 1.15%. FTV will begin airing their own idol drama production “Love Lets Us Be Together” starting this Sunday. From what’s been shown in the preview, “Love” feels more “primetime” than “idol” – which should appeal to FTV’s core audience but probably not the crowd that used to watch idol dramas.

Blackie (Hei Ren)'s Table Manners Are Disgusting; FanFan Once Wanted To Break Up

Fiances FanFan Fan WeiQi and Blackie Chen JianZhou (HeiRen), set to wed in May, have finally made an appearance together! The couple appeared on KangXi Lai Le together; chatting with good friend Dee Hsu (Xiao S), the couple seemed to forget themselves and their boundaries. They talked freely about their ten-year relationship and revealed a lot of juicy tidbits, talking shop about thongs, bathing, and general exposure.

This is the first time the couple has appeared together for an interview. Blackie said that, in the past, they'd always recorded VCR segments instead. He said, however, that because this is FanFan's last album as a single woman, he was specially going to promote with her. Upon hearing this, Dee's eyes looked curiously red, and she seemed on the verge of tears: "I'm about to cry! This is really touching."

When asked whether she'd ever become "tired" of Blackie, FanFan revealed that, about seven years into their relationship, she'd wanted to break up with him-- because his "table manners are really slovenly and disgusting!" She recalled one experience: he was sweaty and eating beef noodles, before he let out three loud belches and began to pick at his teeth. FanFan also said that "exposing" himself is one of Blackie's pastimes; most of their good friends have seen him naked!

According to Dee, FanFan lacks normal "female hormones." She doesn't like to be sexy, not even for Blackie. FanFan revealed that, after she takes a bath, her floral pajamas often mysteriously appear; Blackie will lay out a thong and high heels for her instead. She said, "When I see them, I really burst out laughing! No matter what he says, I won't wear them." Blackie, embarrassed, couldn't help crying out in protest.

Dee said honestly that, because Blackie seemed to take his sweet time proposing and FanFan kept saying that she wasn't sure she would to marry him, for a time, she [Dee] thought for sure that they're break up. Now, though, she is hoping that she, FanFan, and her sister Barbie (Da S) could all become pregnant in the next year and go through maternity together.

Kevin Tsai KangYong asked the pair: over the last ten years, did no one else really never enter the picture? FanFan answered directly, "No!" Blackie, however, said, "I haven't heard of anyone being interested in her, because I think there's no one better [for her] than me." He then added jokingly, "Actually, FanFan had a sex change when she was in middle school." The whole set burst out laughing.

Wang LeeHom, Wang HongEn, and Godfrey Gao YiXiang will be Blackie's groomsmen; Candice Liu RongJia, Makiyo, and Pace Wu PeiCi will be FanFan's bridesmaids. Dee Hsu mocked Blackie, asking him why all of his groomsmen were more handsome than he, to which Blackie replied, "It's important to make the older [women] happy, too!"

Arron Yan Goes Solo; Hand Doesn't Tire As He Signs More Than 10,000 CD's

Arron Yan YaLun held an autograph event for his upcoming solo album on the 12th. He performed his new single, 下一個我 [Xia Yi Ge Wo] [The Next Me], before signing for fans. He began signing at around 2 PM and averaged about 1000 CD's an hour; he had already signed over 10,000 by the time we [the newspaper] went to print! His pre-order sales results were just as good as labelmate Hebe Tian FuZhen's!

Arron's record company consulted a fortune "expert" for advice; they specially selected the "Hong Lou" (Red House) in XiMen for the autograph event. They also had Arron wear red from head-to-toe-- including his underwear!(1) Arron was carried in on a gold sedan chair, as his fans called out loudly, "Heavenly King Yan has arrived!"(2) Facing the media alone, Arron was clearly very nervous. Bandmates Wu Zun, Jiro Wang DongCheng, and Calvin Chen YiRu all sent him text messages of encouragement; however, Arron wanted them to show their support more directly: each of them, he said, should buy at least 50 copies!

(1) "Red" is a lucky color for the Chinese. Also, it's often colloquially used as a shorthand slang for "popular" or "popularity."
(2) The actual Chinese phrase used by the fans is one typically reserved for the arrival of royalty, or at least for the arrival of very important and esteemed people.

JJ Lin Stays "Abstinent" in Preparation For Concert; Elva Hsiao To Be Special Guest

Yesterday, JJ Lin JunJie held a ticketed autograph fan meet in order to promote his "I AM" Concert World Tour; he announced that his guest for the upcoming April 2nd concert will be Elva Hsiao YaXuan. JJ indicated that he really hoped he could fulfill his dream of "backpacking" and traveling freely.

Recently, JJ has been working out enthusiastically, using a gyro wheel to work on his abs and drinking swallow's nest to help his lungs. When the media asked him if he would also stay chaste(2) before his concert, JJ sidestepped the question cheekily, "Usually, I abstain... from the desires of my mouth! My company won't let me eat ice or deep-fried things. I've even had to give up my favorite: hamburgers!"

As for traveling abroad, JJ had originally thought to ask Jimmy Lin ZhiYing to vacation with him. JJ gave up on the idea, however, when he recalled that Jimmy's consumption rate and tastes were a bit high. "I want this trip to be more casual, like backpacking. I don't want to spend more than $100,000 NTD (approximately $3300 US)."

(1) According to Chinese medicine, swallow's nests (燕窩 yan wo) are good for the body.
(2) JJ Lin is widely known (and often teased by the media) for being a devout Christian, one who chooses to stay abstinent.

Jolin Tsai's Romance with Model Vivian Dawson Has Cooled?

Rumor has it that Vivian Dawson is neither considerate nor thoughtful enough, a trait that has led to the cooling of his romance with Jolin Tsai YiLin. At a promotional event yesterday, he ignored all questions regarding his relationship with the pop princess. When asked what one should give a girl for Valentine's Day, Vivian stubbornly suggested the cosmetic products he was hawking. His agent, meanwhile, claimed that the two are only friends.

After his rumored relationship with heavenly queen Jolin was exposed, Vivian's asking price shot up dramatically, from $10,000 NTD a show to an average of $100,000 NTD; once, he even made $150,000 NTD. His overseas events have also increased dramatically. However, because his Chinese is not good, he has no other activities or engagements outside of modeling.

Ehlo Huang YuRong Has Just Gotten Out of Debt, But Immediately Donates $20,000 NTD For Japan's Disaster Relief

Ehlo Huang YuRong has been in the entertainment circle for ten years; it was only three months ago, though, that he was finally able to pay off all his debt. He will be able to make his very first dollar this year; upon seeing the disaster and damage that has recently hit Japan, however, the recently debt-free Ehlo immediately donated his paycheck from drama 家和萬事興/Family Harmony. He earns approximately $20,000 NTD an episode; he gave an entire episode's earnings away to disaster relief efforts. He has also urged his fellow cast members to donate.

Ehlo initially entered the industry by way of movies; he was also once a member of 183Club. Unfortunately, though, he has always had a bit of a bad luck streak; he was never able to make it big, and he has had to live in constant debt. When his manager, Sun DeRong, found out several years ago that Ehlo was deep (and sinking ever deeper) in debt, owing more than $600,000 NTD on his card, he lent Ehlo the money, interest-free, to pay it off. Last year, Ehlo accepted a difficult villain's role on SETTV's 8-o'clock drama 家和萬事興/Family Harmony. A few months later, he was able to pay off his debt completely.

He, 陳霆 Chen Tin, and 苗可麗 Miao KeLi have been nicknamed the "hateful threesome" by netizens for their roles in the drama. Ehlo, whose Taiwanese Hokkien is stilted and broken, is also taking on a villainous role for the very first time; at first, the performance was a bit stilted as well. Now, however, it is clear that he's become so "bad" that he's earned the fans' praise!

Show Lo and Wilber Pan Will Head to Japan in April For Concert

Show Lo ZhiXiang (XiaoZhu)'s record company placed a statue of him in the square before Taipei Main Metro Station; Wilber Pan WeiBo had an autograph concert in the same place the very next day. As a result, Show's statue was turned around and covered with cloth. Rumor has it that the two will also be appearing together at Japan's Asia Music Summer Concert, which is set for April 24. So, is Show upset that his statue was covered up so unceremoniously? Show's manager said that he thinks the whole thing is a lot of fun and that there is nothing to it at all; the two are good friends.

The two may be good friends, but they are rivals on stage. Both favor strong and powerful dance songs. In Wilber's single, UUU, he sings, "I'm crazy over uuuuu"; in Show's single, 獨一無二 Only You [Du Yi Wu Er Only You], he sings, "only only uuu." Both compete for the hearts of young girls.

The two will participate in Japan's Asia Music Summer Concert, along with Vanness Wu JianHao and Da Mouth. As of present, concert plans have not been affected by the earthquake in Japan. Kylie Minogue will perform in Japan the day before.

Cyndi Wang returns to work

As reported previously, Cyndi Wang was hospitalized on February 25th due to inflammation of her skin (Cellulitis). She was discharged on the 7th of this month and she resumed filming for “Mei Le, Go” just yesterday (March 10).

Since Cyndi was having trouble consuming food due to the pain in her mouth, she lost 3 Kg after her stay in the hospital. “Mei Le, Go” only had one day of filming left before Cyndi was hospitalized, so upon her return to work, her schedule was packed as the drama was wrapping up its final scenes. Her face was still visibly swollen, but she was in good spirit.
