Jay Chou and Nicholas Tse turns Kuala Lumpur train station upside down

The film THE VIRAL FACTOR (YIK JIN) shot in Kuala Lumpur for two months. Aside from street scenes, they also shot at the Kuala Lumpur Central train station. Shooting at the national traffic center, early in the application process they ran into a variety of obstacles. Luckily they received the government's support. The team however could not request for the station to be shut down for the shoot. At every moment they had over 1,000 onlookers. With the over 100 extras, director Dante Lam Chiu Yin admitted that everyday they were in the middle of the madness.

In the film Liu Kai Chi with his grand daughter Crystal was chased to the train station. Jay Chou (Chow Kit Lun) followed them to help their escape. Nicholas Tse Ting Fung also arrived. They in order to lure away the enemies created a small explosion at the train station. During the shoot passengers had no idea about the shoot and screamed; Chow Kit Lun later even grabbed the girl and ran.

Uncle Chi in the film played Chow Kit Lun and Ting Fung's father. Chow Kit Lun said that Uncle Chi was an actor was very strong influence. His performance kept the younger folks on pace. The girl played Ting Fung's daughter. Before the shoot she would whine to Ting Fung. Chow Kit Lun even played magic tricks to cheer her up; both two Heavenly Kings melted at her hands.

Joseph Chang celebrates birthday with Sex and Zen

Joseph Chang turned 28 yesterday. Just the night before, the media spotted him jogging alone and then going to the video rental store to rent the erotic costume drama film, “Sex & Zen: Extreme Ecstasy”, with his two buddies at late night. Besides “Sex & Zen”, they also rented “The Man From Nowhere” starring Won Bin, and “Your Highness” starring Natalie Portman, which were also restricted movies. There were no hot girls or cake to celebrate his birthday, except watching DVD rentals with his buddies. When asked if he had a good time, he expressed through his manager that it had been a long time since he last celebrated his birthday in Taiwan due to work, “It feels great to be able to celebrate with my friends this year!”

Left: Joseph jogged for 5 km. / Right: Joseph coming out from the video rental store.

Although he broke up with his 5-year girlfriend Crystal during the summer, recent rumors suggest that they are back together again. However, Joseph’s manager stated that the two are now friends and feel less pressure than before. But it’s hard to tell what will happen in the future.

RAWR! Jay Chou Turned Green Eyed Monster

So you've all heard so much about the young pretty model he's been dating. Yes, it's Hannah Quinlivan. Yet, it's not been officially announced and they are the most talked about couple in Cpop showbiz.

According to sources, Hannah was the lead actress in the MV produced for Taiwanese rock band, "LiveMachine". There's one scene in the MV where she had to kiss the lead actor's forehead and that concept went downhill because producers were afraid to offend the 'Cpop King' citing that "she came from an influential background and it's not good to offend the senior when you're in showbiz."

In the end they decided only to allow her to hold hands and make eye contact with the lead actor. Rumour has it that she's got to get "approval" from Jay prior to accepting projects as she's not allowed to wear any revealing nor can she be intimate with any male celebs onset.

Jay Chou bids farewell to action films

Jay Chou (Chow Kit Lun)'s first Hong Kong action film THE VIRAL FACTOR (YIK JIN) will be released in January during the Lunar New Year. He at the same time witnessed for the first time the Hong Kong film fighting spirit, which also affected his effort. Thus he personally performed many dangerous stunt in the film. He also felt though that he was older and stressed that this time was the "one and only".

Chairman Chou meant that THE VIRAL FACTOR should be his final action film. "From now on I should just stick to romance and singing in movies. I am older, I can't." He even admitted that he was afraid to die and would not put himself in danger again. Working with Nicholas Tse Ting Fung this time in the film, Chairman Chou said that he only met once with director Dante Lam Chiu Yin. After hearing the story he agreed right away. He knew that every one of Director Lam's film challenged the limits and would have many dangerous stunts. He said, "Finally this time I witnessed the might of Hong Kong film. Actors personally performed almost all the dangerous stunts. Sometimes the director would personally demonstrate them. Even he was like that, how could I use a double?" He remembered that in one scene he jumped from the plane. After the director's demonstration he hesitated for a long time before toughing it out. After he jumped his mind went blank, leaving him completely helpless. "This should be my bottom line, action films truly are too dangerous. I can't help getting older now."

Chairman Chou in order to keep his mother from worrying during the shoot did not dare to call her at all. He joked, "For the movie I dropped my idol baggage. In the past no matter the stunt I would see if I looked bad? Was the stunt cool enough? Yet this time no one should be able to recognize me. However, the director felt that this was actually the best way, I was seen completed as an escaped convict." Although the film had two lead actresses, they did not have many scenes with him. "One was gone as soon as I appeared, so we had no exchange at all. Any rumor should be impossible." He joked.

Chairman Chou later will direct the romance, the sequel to SECRET (BUT NUNG SHUET DIK BEI MUK). Would he invite his rumored girlfriend to be his lead actress? He joked, "I probably would look for a new comer. I hope to be able to find a lead actress with Kwai Lun-Mei's aura."

Jay Chou Gets Sued!

According to AsianCrunch, Jay Chou has been sued for not paying royalties. The woman who sued Chou stated that she co-wrote the three books he released during his career. One of the woman's demands was that Chou would pay the royalties and give her receipts and bank statements to make sure she got the adequate amount for her "work".

However, Chou stated that the only book he collaborated with anyone on was the first book and it wasn't with a woman, but with good friend Vincent Fang. The court responded to the woman's request stating she didn't have enough proof and she hadn't even payed the referee fee. Since the woman didn't respond to the court's notice, the demand was overruled and no actions will be taken towards either the woman or against Jay Chou.

Suing artists seems to be the new "thing". What you're opinion regarding this?

Military Service may start anytime for Ethan Juan

Two nights ago on Christmas, Ethan Juan (Yuen King Tin) and director Doze Niu Chen-Zer attended a Taiwan promotion for their February film release LOVE.

How did Siu Tin spend Christmas? He said that this year was the coldest Christmas. He knew Taipei's restaurants and cinemas would have many people, so he went to Northeast Coast where it was truly super cold. What did he give his girlfriend Tiffany Hsu? Siu Tin said, "We kept each other company, giving her a complete companion was already the best gift."

Earlier reportedly Siu Tin applied to military service exemption because he was flat footed. Siu Tain said that it was not like he could apply just because he wanted to, the departments had to make a decision.

Director Doze also clarified for Siu Tin and said that Siu Tin has always looked forward to his military service. Over the years Siu Tin always said that military service should not be avoided. To him military service was a great life experience. Director Doze continued that sometimes Siu Tin's friends would use some great opportunities to tempt him into keep delaying his military service. Actually now Siu Tin might report at any moment.

Director Doze hoped Siu Tin would be able to promote LOVE with him before the miltiary service, but Siu Tin was not in charge of the decision. He himself did not want to postpone it anymore as he wanted to face this matter as soon as possible. Siu Tin also reiterated that at work for now he did not have much planned. Before his military service he would promote LOVE and hoped to reach as many places as he could.

Giddens Ko focuses on writing

With his rising popularity due to YOU ARE THE APPLE OF MY EYE, Giddens Ko yesterday attended a Christmas book fair in Hong Kong and held a forum. Giddens Ko pointed out that this time he came from Beijing to spend his second Christmas in Hong Kong. Originally he wanted to hold another event to promote the film box office, but the team wanted to celebrate Christmas Eve and he did not want to bother them.

The APPLE box office has already broken 60 million and would likely become the Chinese film box office champion of all time. Giddens Ko said that the film was still 500,000 away from this mark, but he thanked Hong Kong cinemas for their support and still continuing the run. Yet he revealed that he will not make another film in the next two or three years as his profession was writing novels. He would not starve to death if he did not make movies. In the future he will continue to write books.

This Christmas Giddens Ko was in Hong Kong and did not have time to be with his girlfriend. On New Year's Eve he had to translate a friend's wedding. He joked that this friend had problems to wed on this day as everyone would have to count down with him. He would make time to be with his girlfriend though. He also joked that his friend was getting married due to pregnancy. Would he follow his friend's footstep? He said that he would not because he has always been very safe. Reporters joked if he has taken safety measures? He joked, "What kind of rotten question is that? We are a normal couple!"

Nicholas Tse and Jay Chou find brotherly love hard to abandon

In the Nicholas Tse Ting Fung and Jay Chou (Chow Kit Lun) starred Emperor film THE VIRAL FACTOR (YIK JIN), Ting Fung played a criminal and Chairman Chou a police officer. Their characters opposed each other but they were brothers. Ting Fung said, "Actually I was very surprised that we would have such a chemical reaction, which was very rare. I felt very familiar when I was working with Chow Kit Lun, which was very wonderful. He and I have never worked together before and did not know each other too well, but I felt like I had to protect him. I felt like I had to protect my little brother."

Chairman Chou also stated that the most challenging for him in this film was the unbreakable family crisis, having to choose between the two would always be the cruelest. He said, "From the starting he looked for my biological brother as a mission. His mother wanted him to so he went. Yet in the end, from what we saw, family actually truly was very hard to abandon. If he had no feeling at all for his older brother, he wouldn't have to suffer and didn't have to make a decision between two tough choices."

When Kenji's mother found out about the news, she broke down into tears at the thought of her son having liver cancer.

Kenji admitted that the news was terrifying at first, but he has since calmed down and is keeping a level head during these difficult times.

ELVA invites Show Luo to be concert's special guest

ELVA will be holding a mini concert on Christmas Eve this Saturday and Show Luo will be her special guest. He especially turned down two performances in the mainland to support ELVA, giving up approximately six million dollars.

ELVA’s new album will be released in two days and she will perform her new songs at the mini concert. She will be singing and playing the piano for one of the songs. Thus, when Show visited her during the rehearsal, he gave her an “electric piano hand roll” as a gift, “I know that ELVA will be performing on the piano at the concert. I’m giving her this electric piano hand roll so that she can practice when she’s in the car or waiting for the next recording.”

Since Show is known to be mischievous, he especially told his assistant to prepare an actual hand roll (sushi) beforehand. Knowing that ELVA was waiting to receive his electric piano as a present, he took out the hand roll and teased, “This is also a hand roll! It’s lunch time, aren’t you hungry?” His prank really caught ELVA by surprise while the staff and the media fell in laughter.

Rainie Yang Pressured by Media Regarding Rumored Boyfriend

Rainie Yang and Sunny Wang were said to be dating each other not long ago, however it seems like the spark has faded, if one even existed in the first place that is. According to xinmsn, Wang and Yang has thoroughly denied all rumors that they have been romantically involved.

Sunny Wang even stated that many will fall for her (Rainie Yang) but he's not one of them. The press was also pressuring Yang concerning who she would choose between if it came down to Sunny Wang and her former (rumored) boyfriend Joseph Chang. However, Yang refused to give a clear answer, stating both are fantastic in their own way.

However, the press didn't stop there, during the time they pressured her for more information, a rash began to appear on her neck and chest. Many speculate this rash is due to stress and together with a weight loss of 4-5 kg many blame it on this rumored relationship.

Michelle Chen feels honored to be "Close" to god like Stephen Chow

The Giddens Ko directed film YOU ARE THE APPLE OF MY EYE after 57 days in release in Hong Kong (as of December 15) accumulated HK$ 60.41 million at the box office to become this year's highest grossing Chinese film and only 870,000 from breaking the highest grossing Chinese film in Hong Kong, KUNG FU HUSTLE (61.28 million). In order to break Stephen Chow Sing Chi's KUNG FU HUSTLE record, YOU's goddess Michelle Chen yesterday came to Hong Kong for two days to promote the film.

Michelle Chen was very happy about YOU being such a hit in Hong Kong and said that she grew up on Hong Kong films. She truly never imagined that her movie would be so popular with the Hong Kong audience. Her box office guess was less than half of the current amount. She admitted that at first she worried whether Hong Kong viewers would be able to accept the Taiwan storm.

Was she confident about breaking Sing Yeh's KUNG FU HUSTLE record? She said, "I like to watch Chow Sing Chi's movies very much. He is my idol. He has already reached god status. To be so close to god is quite a honor. Whether the KUNG FU HUSTLE record can be broken the audience will determine that. With YOU's current performance I am already very touched."

Caught with Joseph Cheng Yuen Cheung and Tony Yang (Yeung Yau Ning), Michelle Chen admitted meeting them but denied dating either one. She pointed out that they were only good friends. She often went for hot pot casserole with a big group of friends. Was Ko Chen-Tung the real deal? She said no, currently she was single. Because work has been too busy she did not have time to be with a boyfriend. Would they have any chance to develop into a couple? She said that life was full of infinite possibilities and admitted that they were all her type. If she did not like their type she would not be friends with them.

Mayday's Ashin and Monster compose new tracks for Xiao Gui's new album

For Xiao Gui (Alien Huang)’s new album, “Break Heart, Black Heart”, Mayday’s Ashin and Monster will each compose a track. Perhaps because both Monster and Xiao Gui are Scopios, they happen to be big fans of “Naruto” and even incorporated part of its story in the new song, “漩渦” (Uzumaki / Whirlpool); staff members teased that they spent more time discussing about the anime than actually singing the song.

Mayday and Xiao Gui used to be in the same record company. When Xiao Gui released his first album, “Love & Hero”, Ashin and Monster collaborated and wrote him the hit pop rock single, “Screwed Up” (搞砸了). Thus, when Xiao Gui asked them for help this time, they immediately agreed to it.

Although Ashin was in Japan busy preparing for Mayday’s new album, he called Xiao Gui over the internet to teach him how to sing the new song, “澀谷” (Shibuya), since Ashin is the producer for it. Xiao Gui also decided to write the lyrics for the song himself and edited it 20 times before coming up with the final version.

The three of them met on 100% Entertainment a few days ago. Ashin and Monster expressed that they are both confident of the new songs that they wrote. Xiao Gui will be performing in Malaysia on New Year’s Eve. With all the invitations he has received to perform, it is estimated that he will make close to 5 million TWD by end of the year.

Xiao Gui's album is now available for preorder at YesAsia!

Calvin Chen asks Wu Chun about rumored child

Although Wu Chun denied the rumors of him being married with kids, the media continues to ask about it every time. He went on Apple Entertainment News show to promote his new movie, “My Kingdom”. Host and fellow Fahrenheit member Calvin Chen used the audience’s curiosity as an excuse to ask Wu Chun directly, “May I ask what your child’s name is?” causing the atmosphere to become awkward; Wu Chun later expressed that he wasn’t upset but said, “Those who ask about it are not human.”

The rumors have gone on for a year now; on Apple Entertainment News, he said while feeling frustrated, “I’m not upset, but this question is not related to work. I’ve been asked about it so many times, does everyone not believe me? If you ask again, I’ll really hit you!” Although he said he was joking, it was obvious that he was at his limit soon.

His previous costars Ella and Rainie Yang have both been in the news recently regarding their love lives. Ella is rumored to get married in April of next year; Rainie’s rumored relationship with Sunny Wang ended after just two months. Regarding the two of them, Wu Chun said in surprise, “Really? (about Rainie) I didn’t hear about it. I didn’t know at all, but I did hear that Ella has been engulfed in happiness lately.” When the media asked if anyone has asked him to keep some days free (for Ella’s wedding), he laughed, “Nope. I’ve only been hearing stuff from others. It’s very hard to tell whether it’s true or not.” As for how much money he would put in the red envelope when she gets married, he said, “The amount is not important. It’s the thought that counts.”

"Skip Beat!" to premiere this weekend

Super Junior members Donghae and Siwon visited Taiwan for 6 hours to promote their first Taiwanese idol drama, “Skip Beat!” (Extravagant Challenge). Since the story is based in show business and the two play rivals, when asked if they also compete with each other off screen, Siwon replied, “Honestly, it’s hard to avoid disagreements between fellow actors, but I always try my best to listen to other’s opinions.”

Donghae and Siwon spent 4 months in Taiwan to film the manga adaptation, and the series will finally air this weekend, taking over “In Time With You’s” slot. The two confidently said that they are not afraid of being compared to the previous. Interestingly, Siwon’s character’s voice will be dubbed by his costar Ivy Chen’s boyfriend, Penny (Kun Da). After watching the preview at yesterday’s press conference, Siwon commented, “Very interesting. The dub is very cute and lovable.” Donghae’s chacter will be dubbed by Darren of The Drifters; Darren promised to give the fans a surprise if ratings surpass 5%.

Although Ivy’s scenes have been edited out from the Black & White movie, she is the star of “Skip Beat!” and has more scenes than the two male leads. She laughed, “There isn’t a scene without me in it.”

Rainie and Sunny relationship short-lived

Yesterday was the first time that Sunny Wang appeared at a public event since the news of him and Rainie Yang dating broke out. He attended his cousin’s new clothing brand Crystal Wang’s press conference, and the media grasped the opportunity to ask him about the relationship.

Sunny appeared at his cousin Crystal Wang's press conference for her new clothing brand named after herself.

His 15-day trip to New York with Rainie was exposed when a reader snapped a photo of them. Thus, the rumors of them dating began to spread. However, both stars have yet to respond about their relationship directly. At yesterday’s event, Sunny did not confirm whether the girl who was sitting next to him in the photo was Rainie. He expressed that he had not seen Rainie since he got back from New York. Sunny said, “Honestly, this news has made me rather embarrassed. If I see her at the company, I’ll feel a bit embarrassed.” His ex-girlfriend ELVA has also been chased after by the media for her input on Sunny and Rainie’s relationship since they’re all from the same management company. Sunny expressed apologetically, “I’m really sorry to ELVA. This whole situation has caused everyone to feel a bit embarrassed.”

Sunny went to play basketball after the press con. Ironically, he was on the same team as ELVA's other ex-boyfriend Jacky Chu.

Although Rainie told the media to give her “room for friendship” a few days ago, implying the possibility of a love relationship, Sunny said frankly, “Many guys may fall in love with Rainie, but so far I haven’t.” But he added, “She’s very lively and has great acting.” Rainie’s manager responded on the other hand, “From start to finish, it was the media that was making up all the rumors. They are just good friends. Thank you for everyone’s concern.”

Ivy Chen missing from Black & White movie trailer

A new 17-minute trailer was revealed at the press conference for the upcoming movie, “Black & White Episode I: The Dawn of Assault”, directed by Tsai Yueh-Hsun. 30 million TWD has been spent on special effects which includes a suspenseful helicopter explosion scene with Mark Chao and Huang Bo. But interestingly, Ivy Chen had zero scenes in the trailer and was also missing from the poster. (Right photo: a new still of Ivy was just released several days ago)

The movie has met many obstacles; Vic Chou withdrew from the movie shortly after its announcement; the script was edited more than ten times. Last year October, 1.5 million TWD was spent on a press conference to announce its leads: Mark, Huang Bo, Ivy, and Angelababy. In February of this year, Ivy and Mark held a press conference and there were rumors of Angelababy being downgraded to a supporting role with Ivy becoming the movie’s sole female lead.

There were scenes of Angelababy and Terri Kwan in the new trailer, and the poster also featured Ah Ken, Na Dou, Alex To, and others, except Ivy. Producer Yu Xiao-Hui explained, “There may be a drama and an action version of the trailer. Her character is different. We’re saving her as a secret weapon.” Director Tsai Yueh-Hsun said on the other hand, “We’re limited by the movie length. She might not be in the final version.” However, she is still considered to be the “female lead,” which puzzled many.

The poster.

Ivy’s manager responded, “Director spoke to Ivy after editing. Ivy feels that she has completed her job as an actress. On the other hand, we do feel a bit unfortunate about it.” When asked if her scenes were cut because she hadn’t renewed her contract with Prajna Works, Ivy’s manager explained, “Why would the director spend so much money just to edit out the scenes anyway? Even if you don’t like someone, you wouldn’t let your money go to waste.”

Mark will continue to play “Ying Xiong” (Hero) in the movie, while Huang Bo will be his new partner. Mark said, “A lot of people are sad that there won’t be Pi Zi (Vic Chou), but it will be new and refreshing. Working with the new Pi Zi (Huang Bo) was very interesting. I on the other hand haven’t changed much. I continue to be the very annoyed and non-smiling character that always shouts at everybody.”

The movie will hit theaters on January 13th and it will also be up against Vic’s new movie, “Perfect Two”.

Mark attended the press conference yesterday.

Jimmy Lin credits Cecilia Cheung as a born race car driver

Jimmy Lin has dual roles as actor and racing technical advisor in the movie Speed Angels. He taught Cecilia Cheung, Tang Wei, and Rene Liu racing skills a month before filming started. Jimmy credited Cecilia as a born race car driver. Tang Wei picks it up very fast and Rene Liu emphasizes practical skills and studies the details. Their driving styles are like their characters.

When Speed Angels was still on the drawing board director Jingle Ma wanted Jimmy Lin to get involved. The once “Asian Little Whirlwind” is the first professional race car driver among Chinese actors and has won numerous international racing trophies. In the beginning Jingle Ma only hired Jimmy as the technical advisor and racing coach for the three actresses. By the time filming started Director Ma realized it was a waste of Jimmy’s talents to put him behind the scenes so he offered Jimmy the role of the racing coach in the movie. Jimmy was busy racing and didn’t appear on the big screens in the past 6 years. He accepted the offer wholeheartedly and said Director Ma is a very good businessman to hit two birds with one stone.

Pop charts: Andrew Tan tops KTV chart for a year

Although there have been just about the same amount of albums released from male and female singers, the top five places have been predominantly male. Not only the top 4 places of the KTV charts are all male singers, Andrew Tan’s “Queen” has been in Holiday’s first and second place for a year.

The Malaysian singer released his album, “Queen”, last year in October. At the time, he was unable to promote in Taiwan due to problems obtaining a work permit. However, it didn’t affect the song’s popularity. His new duet single with Bii, “Shi Zai Bi Xing”, which was released in September, has risen to top 5 on the KTV charts. The song is also in the top 10 of Malaysia’s “My Astro Music Chart”.

During Andrew’s autographing and mini concert event on the 4th, he especially made a phone call to Bii, who is currently in the military, to inform of the good news. Andrew thanked the fans for their support and promised that he will release a photobook next year. He previously promised that it would be shot “by the beach without using any objects to block the view.” He added, “Releasing a photobook has been my wish since I was little. There will definitely not be any issues with skin exposure.”

Jay Chou & Lady Gaga to Collaborate?

According to a rumour that xinmsn got news about, Lady Gaga might decide to use Jay Chou's dancers for her own upcoming Asia tour next year. Why? Well, apparently Jay Chou's latest album 'Exclamation Mark' has hit a home run with the international star and she was greatly impressed with him and his dancers unique hip-hop dance routine.

According to the rumour, the two of them have met and discussed the possibility of a collaboration. The choreographer of Jay Chou's dance routine said through JVR music that they have indeed received an invitation overseas, but they got no idea if it is from Lady Gaga or not.

An official from JVR music has denied these claims and stated that if they had met it would be big news, but alas they haven't.

What do you think? Is it plausible that a big international star such as Lady Gaga wants a joint collaboration with Jay Chou?
