Candle light brings Michelle Chen and Joseph Cheng together

The Zero Chou Mei Ling directed film FA YEUNG (RIPPLE) invited many Taiwan popular idols Jerry Yan (Yin Sing Yuk), Joseph Cheng Yuen Cheung (Siu Chung), Michelle Chen and Hong Kong stars Simon Yam Tat Wa and Sandra Ng Kwan Yu. Director Chou said that when she first worked with Jerry she already felt that his aura was very unique and that he definitely was not human. Jerry also said, "Because the Taiwan series METEOR GARDEN's character the company typecast me, but I hope to accept challenging jobs that have space for development. This way the sense of satisfaction would be even greater and I like this sense of ease very much. (You won't play Prince Charming again?) The white horse is dead, haha; actors have to try many things, next time I may shave my head, spit and be even rougher, to me they would be even more comfortable."

As for the kiss scene with Ivy Chen in the film, he said that luckily it was not awkward. He also remembered to praise her as very pretty, but he loved the characters' feeling of hurt because they displayed deep love that they did not dare to express. He said, "This feeling is very beautiful and reminds me of my crush on the female class president. I would keep taking glances at her. Every time she passed by I would smile very happily like an idiot, but I didn't dare to tell her even at the graduation." Rumored girlfriend Lin Chiling said that she would like to work with him. He happily said, "Really? Actually I have many people who I would like to work with because I can learn from working with good actors." Aside from openly talking about Lin Chiling, he even said that he changed a lot. In the past he was reluctant to attend events with many people, this time he walked the Shanghai Film Festival red carpet with the team and turned into little fans with his co-stars to look at film industry celebrities from different places.

Playing a couple in the film Siu Chung and Michelle Chen did not even have a kiss scene, but the director still asked them to stare at each other in a candle lit room to develop their soulful exchanges. Siu Chung said, "Indeed it has magical power. Actually I felt the goddess in front of me was holy and couldn't be dishonored. Through the candle light staring, I finally was able to shake off her goddess brilliance and go forward." They also traded compliments as they called each other talented. Did they truly fall for each other? Michelle Chen admitted that she did but it was a friendly love; Siu Chun played mysterious and said, "Actually no one would know what will happen in the next second and don't dare to make any prediction. Everyone should reserve some space and a sense of mystery."

Mark Chao shows off his leg strength

Taiwan star Mark Chao (Chiu Yau Ting) led Huang Bo and Terri Kwan Wing yesterday appeared at the Shanghai Film Festival to promote their new film BLACK AND WHITE. Yau Ting was caught in a koala bear. He not only displayed his leg strength but was praised, "Whoever is in love with him definitely can't be higher."

Yau Ting was asked about going on holiday with Gao Yuanyuan. He said, "I went but let's not talk about this. She is busy at work and didn't come to Shanghai. With the relationship publicized we have more space, the pressure isn't as big." He also pointed out that a BLACK stunt scene injured his vertebrae. He who did not know how to fight never thought about working in action, but after working with Huang Bo he really wanted to be his underground lover. Huang Bo said, "We don't need to be underground, I am publicizing it now! I am only afraid that your female fans would scold me to death. (Are you afraid of Gao Yuanyuan's jealousy?) No, I can share with her."

Fei Xiang conquers Mini Yang with his looks

The PAINTED SKIN: RESURRECTION (WAT PEI II) team held a press conference in Shanghain on the 17th. Executive producer Yang Hongtao, Wang Ruojun, producer Chen Kuo-Fu, director Wuershan, producer Pang Hong, Wang Zhonglei, art director Yang Zhenjian led Mini Yang Mi, Kris Phillips (Fei Xiang), Chen Tingjia in attendance. At the event Chen Kuo-Fu and Wuershan supported each other and swore to make the 'bullest' Chinese film. The production also officially announced that the film will be released on June 28 in 3D.

Speaking of Wuershan, Chen Kuo-Fu revealed, "Once I met with Wuershan to talk about the movie. I said I might not be PAINTED SKIN: RESURRECTION's producer. At the time I saw him sweat but he still calmly said this film 'without you I won't make it'. Another time, before the shoot he had stomach bleeding, when he was still under anesthetic he suddenly sat up in his bed and said, 'I have to make the bullest Chinese film with Teacher Kuo-Fu.'" Thus, Chen Kuo-Fu's confidence of joining PAINTED SKIN: RESURRECTION was confirmed.

As the 2008 PAINTED SKIN and PAINTED SKIN: RESURRECTION's producer, Pang Hong said that in the four years of preparing for the sequel he was 'very uneasy because I wanted to make a different Chinese film."

Among the three actors, Fei Xiang's mature charm had the two female stars under his spell. Chen Tingjia who had the most scenes with Fei Xiang said, "When I told Mama I had to work with Fei Xiang, she said that she wanted to visit me on the set. She never mentioned that before, this was the first time." Yang Mi said, "My previous impression of Fei Xiang was just a very handsome uncle, but when I met him, his mature charm deeply made me submit. Although in the only scene that he and I worked together he killed me."

After the Shanghai Film Festival opening ceremony, PAINTED SKIN: RESURRECTION's release date grew closer. One of the producers Wang Zhonglei said, "Now what we can do we have already done, we can only look forward to a good result." The film will be released in 3D. He joked with Yang Mi, "I believe everyone wants to see a 3D Yang Mi 'flying over'. In addition, many scenes also needed 3D to display the most perfect effects."

Barbie Hsu is afraid of Shawn Yue's driving

Shawn Yue Man Lok's new film MOTORWAY (CHEH SAU) will be released simultaneously next Thursday (21st) in Hong Kong and the Mainland. In the film he and Big S (Barbie Hsu) had romantic scenes. He even had to keep pursuing Big S, who kept on rejecting him. Luckily in real life that has not happened to him yet. While in pursuit of Big S he drove in circles around her, which frightened her because she did not know how his driving was. She was afraid of being scarred!

Big S joked that on the day of the shoot the crew kept telling her not to worry, which made her from being not worried to being somewhat stressed. Later after she and Lok Jai communicated and learned that his driving was top notch, she was no longer worried. Actually this was the third time that she worked with Lok Jai. She said that everyone had a pleasant working experience. She even discovered that Lok Jai's acting quite was a pleasant surprise as it improved a lot. When they worked together they had spark. His Putonghua was very fluent with a Taiwanese accent, which made her feel very close.

Michelle Chen is willing to take pay cut to work with Stephen Chow

JESSICA CODE two nights ago held its 9th anniversary party at Central and Michelle Chen, Jacquelin Chong Si Man and Elanne Kong Yeuk Lam were among the guest list. Michelle Chen said that her film with Donnie Yen Chi Tan, TOGETHER, has already been completed. Later she will work on another Hong Kong film.

Michelle Chen said that she grew up on Hong Kong films and hoped to have a chance to work with Peter Chan Ho Sun and Stephen Chow Sing Chi. Although she met Chan Ho Sun once, at the time she did not feel right about recommending herself. Thus when she would have a chance to see Chow Sing Chi she definitely would muster up the courage to tell him. As long as she would be able to work with Sing Yeh, she would not mind reducing her salary in half or playing ugly for laughs. She said, "Actually a goddess can be very ugly too, that way everyone would get a surprise. (Aren't you afraid of rumors with Sing Yeh?) No, nothing is nothing, time can prove everything." She also said that she came to Hong Kong to make movies more and her Cantonese has already become decent. She claimed to be half a Hong Konger.

Michelle Chen stays busy

Michelle Chen became the otaku goddess due to YOU ARE THE APPLE OF MY EYE. Currently she is busy with the Hong Kong film TOGETHER and she still has three more films to be completed. This year she will also release a record, she hoped that she will have the chance to be close to Hong Kong fans then. She was rumored to star with Jet Li (Lee Nin Kit) in BIK LIK SUN TAM (THUNDER COP) but her manager said they have not confirmed the new film because Michelle Chen had to concentrate on the record.

Yesterday after Taiwan "otaku goddess" Michelle Chen worked together with the "Strongest in the Universe" Donnie Yen Chi Tan on a new film TOGETHER. With humidity of sunshine with passing showers, Michelle Chen lay on the ground in a wedding gown for hte shoot. Yen Chi Tan might not be playing Ip Man but as the traffic cop he still made a heroic pose to save the goddess in distress.

Michelle Chen for convenience wore sneakers. Although she had an assistant, right on the director's cue she shot the scene on the ground despite the smoke emitting from it due to the heat. Yen Chi Tan in his traffic cop uniform very professionally got into character; used to playing a hero, Yen Chi Tan while saving the injured Michelle Chen made a heroic leap to the goddess to check on her as if Ip Man has traveled through time and space. This scene went smoothly and the team broke for lunch. Yen Chi Tan stripped down to only a tank top and left in his vehicle. Michelle Chen remained inside the wedding store that the team loaned to rest. Later school was out and many students looked on as they kept screaming goddess. Yen Chi tan in his traffic cop uniform was so convincing that few pedestrians recognized him.

Yoga Lin admits to breaking up with G.E.M.

Yoga Lin completed his concert at the Taipei Arena over the weekend. While he was playing the guitar during the concert, his strings broke. He joked at the celebration party afterwards, “It’s the first time that my strings broke. It feels like my skills have gone up a level!”

When the media asked if he had invited his rumored girlfriend G.E.M. to his concert, he replied, “All my friends were invited,” and then added, “That person (G.E.M.) probably didn’t come to watch.” Since they were rumored to have broken up, the media asked if they could now describe her as “Yoga Lin’s ex-girlfriend.” He answered, “You guys were the ones who wrote that. I don’t mind it,” indirectly admitting that their relationship had ended.

During the encore part of his concert, he sang his heart out with pop-rock band Mayday. He even humorously confessed his love to Mayday’s lead vocalist, Ashin. He later explained that it was bass player Masa’s idea.

Van Ness Wu rumored to be engaged

Van Ness Wu and his girlfriend Arissa are rumored to have gotten engaged just last month. Appledaily reported that the couple kept a low profile and only invited their parents to dinner.

33 year-old Van Ness and 29 year-old Arissa first met 5 years ago when she filmed his “My Kingdom” MV back in 2006. It started to date then but broke up after a year. They got back together in April 2010, but reportedly broke up 5 months later because Van Ness “vowed to abstain from sex before marriage” as a devoted Christian.

However, they were together again early last year and Arissa was spotted going to his place and spending the night there in July. They were also seen at the airport leaving for a trip in January of this year. Their relationship has been very stable ever since, although Van Ness has generally avoided talking about his girlfriend in front of the media.

Arissa reportedly told her friends that she was engaged last month. However, Van Ness’s manager Katie denied, “(I) don’t think so. He’s very busy filming a drama right now, so he has no time at all.” -- Van Ness is currently filming “Ti Amo Chocolate”. The media reminded her that getting engaged doesn’t take as much time as getting married. Katie replied, “He takes both engagement and marriage very seriously. Friends around him would definitely have been advised about it, but I didn’t hear anything from him.”

Lau Ching Wan's hug makes Michelle Chen nervous

Giddens Ko led Ko Chen-Tung, Michelle Chen and others to win 4 awards at the Chinese Film Media Award including New Director, New Actor and Viewer's Choice Film and Michelle Chen's Viewer's Choice Performance Award. Michelle Chen felt flattered to accept the award from her idol Lau Ching Wan. Ching Wan was her favorite actor. When he gave her a congratulatory hug, she was so nervous that the paper in her hand fell to the floor.

Michelle Chen said that the "Performance Award" was a huge encouragement. Every time she competed for Best Actress she ran into Deanie Ip Tak Han, so she did not win and she was convincingly defeated. This time because viewers chose the "Performance Award" it was the award that she wanted to win the most. After the ceremony she will continue to work on a movie in Hong Kong, and another will tightly follow. She joked that she has become half a Hong Konger. Two nights ago Ko Chen-Tung won Best New Actor. He revealed that he will return to Taiwan for his brain "little toy" (tumor) surgery preparation on June 20. Aaron Yan sheds tears over poor ratings

CTS/GTV’s “Alice In Wonder City” has just wrapped up its filming. Aaron Yan spent eight months to film the drama including learning how to play the violin. Many viewers praised that his violin playing scenes were very real and that his acting had improved a lot. However, the drama continued to struggle in ratings as it only averaged 0.56% on last weekend’s episode. (Top photo: Aaron (right) and Shiou Jieh Kai are the leads.)

During the celebration party after the filming, Aaron said while shedding tears, “We had many obstacles while filming this drama, but everyone did their best to complete it. I hope that everyone can feel the “life” I’ve put into portraying He Ting-Yu (his character’s name).”

Aaron was in tears at the celebration party.

There are many reasons for the drama’s dismal ratings. Since Aaron’s sexuality had often been questioned, the media asked if it affected the drama. GTV’s representative expressed that Aaron was very manly in the drama and did a very good job in expressing his character’s pride and confidence, as well as his nervousness in playing first violin.

Netizens believed that the poor ratings were because the female leads, Tracy Chou and Lara, were not a big draw. Many criticized that Lara had poor speech in addition to the drama being choppy.
