Ken Zhu and Maggie Wu to tie the knot?

After two coincidental sightings, the on-off couple is said to be seeing each other again

Taiwanese artistes Ken Zhu and Maggie Wu were spotted on the same return flight from Tokyo earlier this month and the on-off couple reportedly got off the plane separately to avoid ‘suspicion’. On a separate occasion, the actress-model was spotted on Ken’s car during an outing, fueling speculations that the rumoured lovebrids will be tying the knot soon.

Maggie was embroiled in the infamous Li Zongrui (also known as Justin Lee) sex scandal which rocked the Taiwanese entertainment industry last year. It is believed that Ken’s support during those tumultuous times brought the couple back together again.

“Unless I meet someone who is good to me and takes care of my family, and I don’t have to work anymore, then I will declare to the world that I’m getting married,” added Maggie.

She further clarified that she took a ride from Ken’s car after coincidentally meeting him at the Chinese physician clinic which was recommended by the F4 member, and emphasised that they are “just friends”.

Ken’s manager could not be reached for comment at press time.

Rift between Show Luo and Anthony Wong deepens

Hong Kong veteran singer Alan Tam is caught in a fix after volunteering to play peacemaker between the two artistes

The tense conflict between Hong Kong actor Anthony Wong and Taiwanese singer Show Luo heats up once again after the latter allegedly made a dig at the veteran actor by constantly requesting fans to repeat his name during his four gigs in Hong Kong last weekend. Anthony had previously exchanged harsh remarks with Show's fans, commenting that he did not know the 33-year-old, indirectly referring him as a "nobody".

Alan Tam, who was Show's final guest-performer at his concert, volunteered to play peacemaker between the two artistes by "treating them to meals, poker and karaoke sessions".

Anthony criticised Alan for being a "busybody", and mentioned the veteran singer was "uttering nonsense and doing the unnecessary onstage".

Although reports suggested Show intended to make peace with Anthony, the Hong Kong actor still seemed furious over the Taiwanese artiste's behavior.

"I don't know [Show] in the first place, so I'm not interested to be friends with him. There's no argument involved between us, his fans are the ones stirring up trouble," he added.

Ethan Juan retires from Military Service

Ethan Juan (Yuen King Tin) in January last year served his military term at the "high age" of 29 and was assigned to New Taipei City Government Education Department for a substitute service. Since he performed well, as the Golden Horse Best Actor worked on 7 Taiwan City Government promotional ads in one breath and served as the New Taipei Holiday Art School lecturer, he saved the government a lot of promotional fee. He chose to donate blood before the end of his service and received another day of "holiday". Yesterday at 5PM he personally went to Banqiao Stadium to pick up his military retirement certificate and officially end his military life. When Siu Tin appeared the media flocked to him. He did not have any plan to celebrate with his girlfriend Tiffany Hsu.

Before his military service Siu Tin had an agreement with Peter Chan Ho Sun. Famous director Hou Hsiao-Hsien's new film THE ASSASSIN will pair Siu Tin with Shu Qi and reportedly aim for this year's Cannes Film festival. Thus conceivably Siu Tin could only "take a little break". Doze Niu Chen-Zer's new film MILITARY PARADISE also has Siu Tin locked in for the first lead. He said, "I am scared. If Director Doze won't make me suffer he won't give up." On the 13th he will fly ot Milan for a fashion show. Because he has not "face the masses" in a long time, he said that he was perturbed.

As Siu Tin "regained freedom", many Hong Kong producers and directors have their eyes on him. Paco Wong and Wong Jing praised him to be a good actor. The former even said, "With a director and a right script, I won't eliminate the possibility of a collaboration." Universe's Daneil Lam Siu Keung admitted that he was already interested in working with Siu Tin before his military service; Chapman To Man Jat who has participated in film producer work also said, "I remember very much in MY QUEEN he and Cheryl Yang had a break up scene on the roof, which got me crying. An idol actor with acting abilities is very rare, a chance to work together would be a honor." Emperor executive Mani Fok Man Hei also said, "As long as an actor has potential we want to work with him!"

Many male fans may be swooning bowled over by Taiwanese songstress Elva Hsiao's charms, but her boyfriend Kai Ko is definitely not one of them.

At the promotional event for his latest romance movie Together in Beijing, Kai sang high praises for his co-star Angelababy, and commented that he shared similar personalities with her.

"Both of us are very bubbly most of the time," he quipped.

When asked to compare the level of attractiveness between Elva and his two onscreen girlfriends Michelle Chen and Angelababy, Kai bluntly replied, "I didn't know [Elva] that well previously. Thus, she can't be my goddess for life."

After the press conference, Kai's manager clarified that the Taiwanese actor was "quoted out of context".

He explained, "Kai meant everyone will have different idols at various stages in their lives."

Cyndi Wang on reconciliation with Yao Yuan Hao: I was moved

The Taiwanese artiste was touched by the actor’s love promise and decided to rekindle their relationship

"I was moved by his promise to protect me," singer-actress Cyndi Wang shared at the backstage interview after her concert last weekend.

The 30-year-old artiste made her first public appearance after she was photographed sharing an intimate moment with Taiwanese actor Yao Yuan Hao on New Year's Eve.

Cyndi confessed to news on their reconciliation and mentioned she was touched by the latter's concern when she fell sick in November 2012.

She recalled, "[Yuan Hao's] friend would send chicken soup on his behalf."

When the pair met each other again last month, Cyndi broke down when Yuan Hao promised to "protect her". She was widely speculated as the third party when Yuan Hao announced his break up from model, Sonia Sui in February last year.

The Taiwanese singer-actress has since decided to give both of them another chance and they rekindled their relationship soon after.

Cyndi was unfazed towards the public's negative comments about the couple's relationship and mentioned, "I have no regrets. I'll bear the consequences."

Show Luo kisses Pauline Lan at Taipei concert

The Taiwanese pop star made headlines when he locked lips with fellow Taiwanese artiste Pauline Lan during his concert in Taipei

Singer-actor Show Luo gave his 2013 world tour concert ‘Over the Limit’ a show-stopping finale when he kissed Taiwanese singer-host Pauline Lan and shared the stage with pop princess Jolin Tsai. A total of four shows were organised for this world tour concert, and the third and last show was held consecutively on the same day.

At his third show, Show asked Pauline, his special guest performer, for a kiss on behalf of his deceased father. The latter obliged and the two raised temperatures in the concert arena when they shared a kiss on the spot. Pauline even teasingly commented that she was “willing to take off” her clothes and “burn them” for the 33-year-old’s father.

To up the ante for his last show, celeb pal Jolin guest-starred and the duo danced to each other’s hit songs, followed by a hip-hop dance collaboration.

Show then attempted to plant a kiss on Jolin’s lips as he did to Pauline, but to no avail . Joline even refused his advances by blocking him with her hand.

To mark his fourth performance at the Taipei Arena stage, Show challenged his limits and successfully jumped down from a four-metre high stage to land on a cushioned floor stage - without the use of safety equipment.

Jacky Cheung, Andrew Lau and Wong Jing bid Yang Deng-Kui Farewell

Taiwan film and television tycoon Yang Deng-Kui passed away on December 31. Jacky Cheung Hok Yau, Wong Jing, and Andrew Lau Wai Keung yesterday went to Taiwan to pay their respect. Hok Yau and Yang Deng-Kui have known each other for over a decade. Yang Deng-Kui said, "Cheung Hok Yau's biggest flaw is he doesn't look like an artist, but it is also his most lovable quality." Hok Yau said, "Boss Yang didn't speak much. He was bold and loyal, I respected him very much." Hok Yau remembered 11 years ago Boss Yang asked him to work on a liquor ad. At the time he already quit drinking. Boss Yang took great care of him. The first 3 glasses were real liquor, the rest were all tea. He revealed taht he was working on his schedule to attend the memorial concert on the 28th.

Wong Jing praised Yang Deng-Kui as "a real man who values promises. He supported their film productions very much and loved film and television." Lau Wai Keung said, "He took care of the younger generation like a father."

Ariel Lin yesterday tearfully said, "I would properly promote, I hope he would be able to see it there." She and Yang Deng-Kui were like grandfather and grandchild. Most of her work was with Gala Television Corporation. Every time she finished one, Yang Deng-Kui would always take her hand and said, "Thank you for making another good show for the company." He made her felt all warm inside.

Dicky Cheung Wai Kin yesterday arrived from Shanghai and stayed less than 3 hours. Kin Jai once had a film contract with Yang Deng-Kui, who gave him a down payment first. However before the movie went into production he already spent it all. Then he ran into Ken Yang and asked him to tell Yang Deng-Kui that he would not take a down payment for nothing. In the future if he was needed he would be there. Yang Deng-Kui replied, "You just keep the down payment first!" He finally understood the reasoning behind "you respect me and I return it ten folds" and behaved with the spirit.
