Faye Wong almost trips while performing for her Idol

CHASING DREAMS: the Teresa Teng superstar memorial concert took place two nights ago in Beijing. Faye Wong, Yu Quan, Jam Hsiao (Siu King Tung) and Gary Chaw (Cho Gat) performed in memory of Teresa Teng Lai Kwan. When Faye Wong went on the stage she tripped and almost fell. Luckily she was able to catch herself and flashed an awkward smile. Very quickly she got back into her performance.

Faye Wong performed 4 songs, BREEZE AND DRIZZLE, QINGPING DIAO, PLACE OF FIRST LOVE and ALONE TO THE WEST CHAMBER. QINGPING DIAO was Tang Lai Kwan's final song. On the stage Tang Lai Kwan's performance was played first, then Faye Wong sang with her. When Faye Wong performed ALONE TO THE WEST CHAMBER, she had a sentimental narration with subtitles. "She (Tang Lai Kwan) was the teacher who introduced me to music". Faye Wong sang 4 songs and as usual did not speak at all.

Yu Hao Ming dismisses 'heroic' claims

The Chinese actor said that he does not remember 'saving Selina' during the filming accident three years ago

While speaking to the media recently, Chinese actor Yu Haoming recalled the traumatic filming accident in Shanghai three years ago that left Taiwanese singer Selina Jen and himself with severe burns on their bodies. Although reports have always depicted Yaoming as the 'hero', the 25-year-old clarified during the interview that the impact of the explosion was too strong for him to 'save Selina'.

After the accident, Selina was even berated by Haoming's fans who heard that their idol suffered second degree burns on 39 percent of his body because of his heroic act to 'protect' the S.H.E member.

Stepping forward to clear the air three years on, Haoming emphasised that it was impossible for him to react at the time. He further explained that the actual details of the accident were revealed by the footage recorded by the cameraman and that the misunderstanding was caused by media reports.

Although Selina is recovering well from her burn wounds, the singer remains psychologically scarred by the terrifying accident. It is believed that her record company did not refute the claims back then to protect Haoming from more harm.

In a recent interview, the S.H.E member also mentioned that she is still in touch with the actor and that they often encourage each other via their microblogs. When asked about the chances of Selina taking on acting projects in future, her record company said that the 31-year-old is currently focusing on her singing and hosting career.

Ethan Ruan's manager wants to withdraw from co-owned company

Trouble's brewing for Ethan Ruan and his partner just two months after the company's establishment

After his discharge from the military, Ethan Ruan officially announced the formation of his new artist management company, Tian Liang, in March. The other shareholders of the firm include Taiwanese director Doze Niu and Taiwan filmmaker Lee Lieh who is also his manager. Barely two months later, rumour has it that Lee Lieh is having thoughts of withdrawing from the partnership due to her unhappiness with Ethan's behaviour.

The trio became close friends after working together on hit movie Monga, which also won Ethan his first Best Actor trophy at the Golden Horse Awards that year.

However, sources revealed that Ethan's actions have caused much displeasure with Lee Lieh lately. An insider claimed that the actor often kept his schedule and whereabouts a secret from his manager, who once only found out about his assignment one day before the actual event. Ethan was also said to have ignored her when she recommended job offers too.

In addition, Ethan reportedly demanded for astronomical fees while liaising for commercials on his own, which caused the disappointed Lee Lieh to consider leaving the company.

In response to the claims, Lee Lieh, who is currently in Venice, denied that she has fallen out with Ethan and said, 'All these rumours are crap!'

'It was my company which invested [in Tian Liang] and not a personal investment by me. I am still his manager,' she clarified.

Lee Lieh further explained that she discusses Ethan's schedule with his assistant and not with the actor directly, and that it is 'impossible' for her not to know about his assignments.

Michelle Chen's past relationship with drug offender exposed

The Taiwanese singer-actress wrote a song in her debut album for her ex-boyfriend who is currently serving time in prison

Following the release of her first album Me, Myself and I recently, Taiwanese singer-actress Michelle Chen's past relationship came to light as it was revealed that she penned the lyrics to the song '˜Sorry' for her ex-boyfriend Aron, who is currently serving a 16-year jail sentence.

The track, which Michelle described as 'a song filled with guilt', was previously speculated to be written for Alan Kuo whom she secretly dated for eight months.

Michelle and Aron reportedly met when they were studying in the United States. The ex-couple returned to Taiwan in 2006 and eventually broke up as a result of the actress' decision to pursue a showbiz career.

An insider also claimed that Aron, who is said to be born in a rich family, fell under the influence of bad friends after splitting with Michelle. Unfamiliar with the Taiwanese laws, the kind-hearted lad was manipulated by his new '˜friends' and was subsequently sentenced to imprisonment for marijuana possession.

According to media reports, Aron was very 'touched and thankful' when he heard that Michelle has written a song for him. In order to protect his ex-girlfriend's image, he did not mention about the relationship to anyone for the past four years in jail, declining to discuss further details with the media after it was exposed.

Michelle's manager has also declined to comment on the artiste's personal affairs.

Makiyo's mum given four months to live

She was diagnosed with the fourth stage of lung cancer in September 2011

After recovering from the second stage of colorectal cancer after undergoing surgery four years ago, Makiyo's mum was diagnosed with the fourth stage of lung cancer in September 2011. On May 3, she decided to stop chemotherapy treatment after suffering sensitive reactions and decided to seek help from a Chinese physician who informed her that she was only left with four months to live.

The mother and daughter were seen at the clinic on Monday afternoon where Makiyo's mum spoke on her condition, 'I'm not counting the days despite what the doctor told me. I don't feel ill and I live normally every day.'

However, she expressed her utmost concern for Makiyo's well-being and hoped that her daughter would find an older and capable man who can take care of her.

The Taiwanese-based artiste's career hit rock bottom after she was embroiled in a taxi driver assault case with her Japanese boyfriend Takateru Tomoyori last February. At the time, Makiyo's mum had stepped forward and apologised to the public on her daughter's behalf, in spite of her health condition.

When asked if she still keeps in touch with Tomoyori, Makiyo said, 'Rarely!'

Makiyo's mum's disapproval for her daughter's relationship with Tomoyori was apparent as she quickly added, saying, 'If she is still together with him, I'd rather die!'

Jacky Wu publicly apologises to undergraduate

The veteran Taiwanese host has been vacated of his charge for the assault case involving a group of undergraduates

The alleged assault case between Jacky Wu and undergraduate Chen Yu-Feng was resolved after the veteran Taiwanese host personally apologised to the victim at the Taipei District Court yesterday.

Earlier in February, Jacky and other celebrities such as Elva Hsiao and Kai Ko, got into a scuffle at a noodle house with a group of undergraduates, whom they mistook for the paparazzi. Yu-Feng was sent to the hospital with a bleeding lip after Jacky punched him in the face while the latter suffered a blow to the nose and a bruised face. Both parties then sued each other for assault.

After stepping out of court with his charge rescinded, Jacky gave a hug to Yu-Feng before the reporters and made a public apology to the undergraduate. He said, 'I was the one who hit Yu-Feng first and he did not retaliate at all.'

'Earlier media reports which were misconstrued due to my words have hurt Yu-Feng and I'd like to apologise to him in public,' he continued.

Facing the possibility of having his current programs removed due to low ratings, Jacky, whose popularity is on a downward spiral in recent years, is also rumoured to be shifting his career focus to China. He will reportedly head to Shanghai for two hosting jobs in July.

David Tao's rumoured divorce with model Jian Baoshan

The couple are believed to have secretly tied the knot two years ago

According to the Taiwanese media, David Tao, 44, and model Jian Baoshan, who is 16 years his junior, secretly got married in January 2011 and were divorced one year after their wedding in May 2012.

Sources revealed that the couple separated due to personality differences and frequent quarrels. In addition, reports also claimed that Baoshan was a model for a hotel's commercial photoshoot where she wore thick makeup and struck sexy poses in revealing clothes. David was said to have initiated the divorce as he was very unhappy with his wife's modelling career.

However, he only began divorce negotiations with Baoshan last December after recovering from the loss of his dad, late veteran entertainer Tao Dawei, in September.

Both David and Baoshan have apparently signed the divorce agreement which will promise the model an annual alimony of NT$2 million (approximately S$80,000) and a condominium unit worth NT$10 million (S$410,000).

David, who is currently preparing for his Shanghai concerts in Taiwan, has declined to comment on the rumours.

James Wen meets female friend during girlfriend's confinement period

The Taiwanese artiste reportedly met a female friend without her girlfriend's knowledge during her confinement period

James Wen reportedly met a female friend in secret two days ago while his girlfriend is in confinement following childbirth.

According to media reports, the Taiwanese actor and his longtime girlfriend welcomed their first child last month. After his girlfriend gave birth, James was pressured by the public to marry her. However, the first-time father avoided commenting on his marriage plans whenever the topic was brought up by the media, inviting criticisms from the public that he is avoiding responsibility.

After attending an event at Taipei 101 two days ago, James was spotted driving his NT$3.9 million (approximately S$166,000) luxurious car to meet a woman in her 30s.

The pair chatted for about five minutes in the car while James drove around the vicinity. He then sent her back to the location where they met, and before the woman left, James gave her a box of red bean cakes that he bought from Taipei 101 a while ago.

Clarifying on the reports through his manager yesterday, James said, 'She is my friend, and she is also my girlfriend's friend. She wanted to give me my daughter's full month present, and I can't park the car by the roadside, so I asked her to get on the car and we chatted about my daughter for a while.'

In related news, James is rumoured to be marrying his girlfriend soon due to societal pressure, but he does not intend to announce the date to the public.

Jody Chiang's latest release rumoured to be final album

Her manager clarified that the singer will continue singing even if she does stop releasing albums

Veteran Taiwanese singer Jody Chiang's first album in three years, Run Away, is speculated to be her final release after 32 years in the music industry.

Reports stated that Jody did not mention her plans to release subsequent albums this time, unlike in the past where she would eagerly do so. It is believed that her decision to stop releasing physical albums is due to the rampant piracy issues in recent years and the lack of musical direction.

Although her manager did not deny the claims while speaking to the media yesterday, he emphasised that 'ceasing CD releases does not mean that she will quit singing altogether'. He also revealed that the singer was previously uncontactable for two weeks during the recording of her latest album.

At her recent music video shoot which was filmed during low temperatures at the seaside in Jinshan and Tamshui, Jody took photos of her crew and said, 'Everyone is so hardworking. I'm so touched!'

Dubbed as the Queen of Taiwanese music, Jody released a total of 63 albums in her singing career, including Jiu Hou De Xin Sheng which sold over 1.16 million copies, a record yet to be broken.
